At the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, we have the unique opportunity year in and year out to do something really special – help over 250 student-athletes realize their lifelong dreams of competing in Division I athletics and earning an undergraduate degree from an accredited University. Our coaches and staff members work extremely hard to bring high-character, talented young men and women to our University and to provide a memorable student-athlete experience in and out of competition.

The ability to provide this experience would not be possible without the Phoenix Fund. Athletics scholarships are imperative in the success of our athletics programs, and we cannot do it without you. Your passion and continued involvement in Green Bay Athletics makes a tremendous impact on the lives of our student-athletes of today and even those of tomorrow. As the cost of higher education rises, the challenge of funding scholarships grows as well and continues to be a priority for us. Your generosity will help to provide the foundation of success at UW-Green Bay and for our student-athletes. Whether you are a long-time donor of the Phoenix Fund or a prospective first-time donor, your support is vital to our success, and I thank you for your interest in Green Bay Phoenix Athletics.

As a member of the Phoenix Fund, you will impact the lives of young people by providing scholarships to deserving student-athletes. You are making an investment in the youth of our community and region as countless student-athletes each year earn degrees and begin successful careers in Northeast Wisconsin. You are also making an investment in the community as athletics competition provides a positive economic impact on Green Bay and the surrounding area.

Personally, members of the Phoenix Fund receive the satisfaction of knowing they have contributed to the success of our athletics department and the civic pride felt by helping Phoenix Athletics. There are also numerous social benefits to involvement in the Phoenix Fund, including opportunities to meet student-athletes and coaches, receive invitations to special events, meet new friends and enjoy the company of old friends, network with community leaders and make valuable business contacts.

As you can see, there are many reasons to get involved and stay involved in the Phoenix Fund. I invite you to join us in this special group. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and administration, please let me thank you for your support and your commitment to excellence and Green Bay Phoenix Athletics.

Go Phoenix!

WHAT IS A BOOSTER?Definition of a booster –

Representative of Athletics Interests

An individual or agency who has promoted the institution’s intercollegiate athletics program; f inancially

contributed to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization of that institution; assisted in the

recruitment of prospective student-athletes (recruits); assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes (current

athletes) or their families; or involved otherwise in promoting the institution’s athletics program.

Once a booster, always a booster!

PERMISSIBLE WAYS TO GET INVOLVEDIn regards to student-athletes (SA), as a booster, you CAN: host an occasional meal

at your house for a team. You can also provide employment opportunities as long as you use regular hiring procedures and SA’s are paid a similar rate to others

in that position. Some exceptions are made for established relationships; however, it is on a case-by-case basis.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETES (PSA) A booster may not directly or indirectly provide or arrange for any financial

aid, benefits or gifts for a recruit or his/her family. Specifically prohibited, but not limited to: funding a PSA’s visit to campus, equipment, free or

reduced-cost services or purchases of any type. Boosters also may not be directly involved with the recruitment of a PSA. Boosters

can attend athletics events where PSA’s are competing as long as they are not directed to do so by the coaching staff and do not

engage in any recruiting conversations with the PSA or his/her coach, parents, teachers, etc.

CURRENT STUDENT-ATHLETESAs an athletics department, we are able to provide

things to our student-athletes above and beyond their scholarship such as academic counseling,

apparel and equipment, medical services, etc. However, if those things are provided by a

booster, they are considered extra benefits. Extra benefits are any benefits, gifts or

services that are provided to a student-athlete, but not otherwise generally

available to other students on campus that are not athletes.

The Kress Events Center has made an undeniable difference in the lives of students and student-athletes alike over the course of the past six years. For our student body, it has resulted in record numbers participating in campus recreation and student wellness activities. Athletically, our women’s basketball program has enjoyed unprecedented success since moving into the Kress Center, with a staggering 95-6 home record. While calling the facility home, the program has posted four NCAA Tournament wins, a Sweet 16 appearance and has become a regular in the national top-25 polls. Also in the Kress Events Center, the Dick Bennett practice facility has greatly benefitted the men’s basketball program, including helping the staff secure two of the program’s best recruiting classes in recent years.

All teams benefit from the Kress Events Center with excellent workout and training facilities as well as a top-notch sports medicine center.

A showcase for players and coaches to compete, practice, train, work study and host recruits, the Kress Events Center has transformed Phoenix Athletics.
