EDITORIAL

It has been two millenniums since mankind witnessed, once again, the eternal

and universal phenomenon o union between human and divine aspects, in

perect unity, inside a human being. We reer here to no more or less than

the embodiment o the Truth into a human being.

This was not a unique or isolated phenomenon through human history,

but in this case there was a dierence: it proved outwardly a process which is nor-

mally very intimate and personal.

The chosen location or this happening was the Middle East, the cradle o great

civilizations, point o blending and connection between the antique traditions

and religions with the most recently ourishing philosophies. In this vast melting

pot also rendered evident the Gnostics, organized and spread in dierent groups

throughout the entire area o Middle East.

What is historically interesting is that when the Anointed, Jeshua Ben Pandira,

appeared, the majority o these groups, listening to his doctrine and knowing his

lie, they saw reected and embodied in him their own Gnostic philosophies. He

represented the living example o the knowledge that they were trying to put

in practice, to live, to embody. Thus, without giving up their own philosophicalknowledge, they converted to his unconditional disciples, and in this way they

enriched and made actual their knowledge.

The rest is already known: over years and centuries, some o the sects or groups

believed themselves better than others and they combined together and constitu-

ted the Catholic Church, Apostolic and Roman, whose aim was to gather together

the variety o sects. But they marginalized all the ones who did not share similar

views with the newly created Church. Shortly ater, the Catholic Church denes

itsel as state religion, and imposes its “truth” through means o persecution and

re – its “truth” but not the Truth, thus castrating the soul and the true spirit o this

primitive Christianity.

An eloquent example is given by Paul o Tars when he talks about Christ, ma-

king a clear allusion to the intimate Christ or the way in which the Gnostic Kabala

explains how Chokmah is a very elevated part o our spiritual nature. Jesus tells us:

“He, who wants to reach the Father, needs to go through the Son (the Christ)”. All

these aspects have no meaning to the young and recently established Catholic

Church, who totally rid itsel o the primitive Christian teachings and o the keys

which could have helped their proound understanding.

The primitive Christianity is revolutionary; it talks about the seeking and the

creation in the human being o a radical transormation that can bring a person

closer, day by day, by personal eorts and experience, to the Truth and the individual,intimate and proound Being.

On the other hand, the new religion o the Roman Empire appears to hinder

the human liberation, placing itsel midway between God and man. It proclaims

itsel the mean to reach God, and it assumes the mediator role, or the role o the

intermediary. They see Christ as someone untouchable, a ar away being, oreign

to human perception. This is the opposite view o Paul o Tars and the primitive

Gnostics, who see Christ as something intimate, close and touchable through a

proound living o daily lie experiences.

The universal Gnosticism shows us that inside the human nature exist many

parts to be discovered and conquered. We have the chances to change our nature

(as the alchemists also mentioned), and to succeed in conquering these inner

parts, only in this physical world, during lie itsel. It all depends on the aspiration

o each person to obtain this or not, and on the meaning each person gives to his/

her own lie.

Gnosis, the so called “perennial and universal philosophy”, has an existence o

its own, and throughout the centuries constantly invited the human being to ght

to know himsel more and more intimately. Gnosis is eminently practical and leavesthe dogmas to the mind o the people.

Thus we will repeat the ancient dictum: “rst know and then act”, but never

stop and never believe that you have succeeded.

From this public tribune we express our support to all genuine Gnostics who

make their light shine, and continue to divulge aithully and without anatism the

great and eternal Truth.

In this new day and by the side o a new and true guide o humankind, let the

Gnostics prove once again their values and rise themselves to the height o thecircumstances. Let man and history separate the seeds rom the straws, the re

rom the smoke, allowing the message o the Fith o the Seven expend without

limitations, and inspire the world.

THE PROPHECIES OF SAINT MALACHY

He was born in Armagh, Ireland, in 1094, in amily O’Morgair, ater St. Bernard

o nobleness. He was baptized with the name Maelmhaedhoc (a name which hasbeen Latinized as Malachy, meaning “the angel o God”).

St. Malachy was appointed Archbishop in 1132, which dignity he accepted

with reluctance because o his great modesty. In 1139 he journeyed toRome and

on the way there he visited St. Bernard in Clairvaux. In Rome he was appointed

Pope legate or Ireland. In his second trip to Rome he ell sick and died in the arms

o St. Bernard, on 2 November.

Many miracles are attributed to him, but he is most known or his prophecy

git. Among the most amous is the prediction o all the popes who would ever

reign.

According to the hypothesis o Abbot Cucherat (1871), St. Malachy wrote

the prophecy in Rome between 1139 and 1140, while visiting Pope Innocent II

to report all issues o his diocese. It is in 1140 when he entrusted the Pope with

his manuscript, but or some reason it was “lost” in the Vatican or 400 years, only

to be “discovered” in 1595 A.D. He catalogued each pope with an epigrammatic
