Philmont Backcountry Sneak PeakCome get a taste of the Philmont experience! You will spend your nights at the Philmont Training
Center in tents equipped with electricity and visit the dining hall for breakfast and dinner. Over the course of a week, you’ll go on hikes that vary in length and difficulty, culminating in an overnight trip in the backcountry. With the assistance of a Philmont Ranger, you’ll learn various backcountry skills,
including cooking methods, setting up/breaking camp, proper bear procedures and more. In addition to hiking, participants will also have opportunities to engage in other activities, such as horseback rides,
shooting, touring the National Scouting Museum and other PTC activities.
Participants must be 13 years old or older. Units and families alike are welcomed as long as two-deep leadership is practiced. All participants must be in good physical condition and fill out a BSA Annual
Health and Medical Record.
