After the great success of Future University's previous international conferences held in Cairo (2012, 2013 & 2015), hosted over 50 national and international speakers and attracted more than 750 participants each time, it is my pleasure to announce the 4th FUE-International Conference of Pharmaceutical Sciences (4th FUE-ICPS, 2017) to be held at the Dusit Thani Hotel, lake View, 5th Settlement, New Cairo, Egypt, on Jan 31st through Feb 2nd , 2017, to enable the exchange of ideas and to expand network with leading pharmaceutical scientists and clinicians while presenting cutting-edge discoveries, research and new therapeutic drugs.

For the second time we are expanding the scope of our conference to cover the interests of all expertise related to the fluid of Pharmacy starting from the Pharmacy education and assuring quality going through practice supported by research and science in all related basic and applied sciences. The Pharmaceutical industry in Egypt is the most prestigious and the oldest in the Middle East. The pharmacists and other professionals who are the back bone of this industry are well trained and well qualified. However, to keep pace with rapid scientific developments, and emerging markets, it is essential to engage in continuous professional development. This conference serves this critical need.

NanoRods: a Progress Report”

Dr. Mostafa El-Sayed is the Julius Brown Chair and Regents' Professor and Director of the Laser Dynamics Laboratory at Georgia Institute of Technology. He was awarded the 2007 U.S. National Medal of Science by US President for both his research and his humanitarian efforts of scientific exchange among other countries. He is Graduate of Florida State University (1959). Awards: King Faisal International Prize, Irving Langmuir Award and more. Professor El-Sayed was an Alexander von Humboldt Senior Fellow, Germany (1982), a Visiting Professor at the University of Paris, an Alfred P. Sloan as well as a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow, a Fairchild Fellow at the California Institute of Technology and a Miller Visiting Professor at U.C. Berkley.

“ACPE: Assuring and Advancing Quality in Pharmacy Education” Peter H. Vlasses, PharmD, DSc (Hon.), FCCP is Executive Director, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, Chicago, IL. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and served a hospital pharmacy residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Michael Rouse B. Pharm (Hon); MPS, is Assistant Executive Director, Professional Affairs, and Director, International Services for ACPE (USA). He is Lead for Quality Assurance for FIP’s Education Initiative and a global leader in advancing the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) model for lifelong learning of pharmacists.

Prof. Ibrahim Elgendy is a Professor of Toxicology and Chairman of Research Ethics Committee at Benha University, Egypt. He received Diploma of Health Professions Education DHPE from Suez Canal University 2009, and International Certificate in Research Ethics from USA 2007. He is Strategic-Planning and Quality of Education Expert. "National Quality Assurance and Evaluation: The Practice of Program & Institution Accreditation”

Prof. Azza Ezz-Elarab is Professor Periodontolgy at Cairo University and British University in Egypt and a visiting professor in Princess Nora University, KSA. She is former vice dean for postgraduate studies and research at faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo University. Prof. Ezz-Elarab has great interest is quality assurance in High Education starting from strategic planning to implementation and continuous enhancement. She shared in the development of strategic planning in health sector of high education. She also worked at the National Authority of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education as a trainer, external reviewer and in technical support of high education institutes.

Prof. Mukund “Mike” Yelvigi has over 36 years of successful drug development and leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry and academia. His extensive leadership experience includes pharmaceutical formulation, process development/scale-up, process validation, continuous manufacturing and QbD/PAT. Currently Mike is a Managing Partner at Center for Pharmaceutical Integration LLC, New Jersey which provides strategic consultation service to the industry in the area of IND/NDA filings and Technology Integration & Transfers with the primary focus mergers & acquisitions arena. He previously worked as Senior Director/Head of CMC Portfolio Management at Pfizer/Wyeth Inc. Prior to this, he was the Head of Process Development and clinical supply group at Hoffman-La Roche New Jersey. Mukund has also worked in USA at Parke Davis, G.D Searle, Organon Inc. and is an adjunct Professor of Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy in University of Mississippi.

“Dry Powder Inhalers- from Regulatory to Formulation Aspects” Dr. Sabine Hauptstein is Project Manager for Dry Powder Inhaler at Meggle. She studied pharmacy at the University of Tübingen in Germany. After receiving her license as pharmacist, she completed her PhD in pharmaceutical Technology at the University Of Innsbruck, Austria where she was employed as senior lecturer. Since beginning of 2015 she joined the R&D team of Meggle at the headquarters in Wasserburg, Germany. She is responsible for product development and technical support of inhalation grade lactoses.

"Recent Updates on the Egyptian Guidelines for the Conductance of Bioequivalence Studies and Licensing of Bioequivalence Centers"

Dr. Mina Ibrahim Tadros is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial pharmacy, and Head of Drug Manufacture Unit, Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University. Dr. Mina delivered many undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Cairo University, MIU, MSA and FUE. He joined forty international conferences, workshops and training programs. He owns two patents and acts as a peer reviewer in fourteen international journals where he published many manuscripts dealing with novel nano-drug delivery systems.

Dr. Emad B. Basalious has completed his PhD and postdoctoral studies at Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University. He is an associate professor in department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy, Cairo University. He has published more than 22 papers in reputed journals. He is working as scientific consultant for scientific committees (stability studies evaluation and Variations) of Central Adminstration Pharmaceutical Affairs (CAPA), Egyptian ministery of health and as R&D technical consultant for several Egyptian pharmaceutical companies.

“The Future Model of Pharmacy Practice: Critique and Considerations” Prof. Henri R. Manasse, Jr., Ph.D., Sc. D. (Hon.), FFIP is Dean Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Pharmacy. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Dr. Manasse was Vice President for Health Sciences, interim Vice Chancellor for Health Services and Chairman of the Board of the University of Iowa Health System. He served as president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), and was appointed chair of the newly formed Board of Governors of the National Patient Safety Foundation. He was elected the Professional Secretary of the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice of the International Pharmaceutical Federation and was awarded Fellowship in FIP.

“Transplant Clinical Pharmacy: Overview, Roles and Impact”

Prof. Jill E. Martin Boone is Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati with a recent focus on chronic pain management and practice based outcomes research. Prior to her current role, Dr. Boone practiced in both inpatient and ambulatory clinical pharmacy practice in transplantation and served as the Director of Transplant Outcomes at the University Hospital where she has extensive involvement in outcomes management, assessing resource utilization, and quality of life measurements for over 15 years. She has been active on many local, state, national, and international committees addressing pharmacy, quality and outcomes issues. She has been recognized for sustained contributions to hospital pharmacy practice with the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists Walter A. Frazier Award. Dr. Boone is Past President of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Past Co-Chair of the International Pharmaceutical Federation Working Group on Collaborative Practice, and currently FIPeD Domain Co-Lead for Interprofessional Education.

“New Treatments for Heart Failure”

Prof. Michael B. Bottorff is currently Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Manchester University College of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dr. Bottorff’s research interests have focused on the clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cardiovascular drugs, and he has served as principal or coprincipal investigator on numerous clinical trials. Dr. Bottorff has published over 85 original research articles, book chapters and refereed reviews, along with over 50 research abstracts and extensively presented both nationally and internationally on such topics as drug therapy for acute coronary syndromes, management of dyslipidemias, understanding and predicting clinically important drug-drug interactions, and new strategies for managing atrial fibrillation. Dr. Bottorff is a recognized specialist in cardiovascular therapeutics. He has assisted in the implementation of guideline-based therapies and served on the first national panel to develop guidelines for the management of heart failure for AHCPR.

“Zika Virus: Role of the Clinical Pharmacist” Dr. Brian Lawson is the Director, Professional Affairs for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in Washington, DC. BPS is an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and recognizes pharmacy specialties and certifies pharmacists’ knowledge and skills at the advanced practice level. Lawson is the primary staff liaison to BPS-approved professional development providers and works with stakeholders to establish and maintain BPS certification as the recognized gold standard. He represents BPS as a member of the Board of Directors for the Pharmacy Workforce Center, and an Alternate Director for the Council in Credentialing in Pharmacy. Dr. Lawson is adjunct professor at West Virginia University and the President of the School of Pharmacy Alumni Association.

“Dreaming a New Molecular Analysis for Life Science and Medicine" Prof. Tsutomu Masujima is a team Leader of the Single Cell Mass Spectrometry, Quantitative Biology Center, RIKEN, Japan National Institute of Science. Graduated Faculty of Science and holds Ph.D. in Science from Hiroshima University. He established the first live single cell molecular analysis using mass spectrometry in 2007, called Video Mass Spectroscope, later called: “Live Single Cell Mass Spectrometry”. This method will open the way for a lot of molecular understandings and developments in life sciences and medicine. He has many National and International awards.

" Nanotechnology From Fabrication to Clinical Applications"

Dr. Taher A. Salaheldin established the first nanotechnology center in Egypt, Chairman of Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials Central Lab (NAMCL), Agriculture Research Center, Giza, Egypt. Graduated from faculty of science, Cairo University. Hold Ph.D. in nanotechnology and Nano toxicology through channel between Cairo University and Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA, 2009. Leader of a very dynamic multidisciplinary research group of more than 40 MSc. and Ph.D. young researchers. Have been an invited speaker at over 60 institute and scientific meeting and author and editor of many books and chapters in Nanotechnology books. Honored with Many National and International awards.

“Current and Future Trends in Food Waste Valorization”

Prof. Essam Abdel-Sattar graduated from Faculty of pharmacy, Cairo University in 1979. He finished his PhD in 1990 (Munster, Germany). In 2000, he got a JSPS post doctor fellowship, Inst. of Nat Med, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Japan. In 2003, he promoted to professor and now he is the director of Pharmacognosy Department since 2012. He published more than 100 research articles in the field of chemistry and biology of medicinal plants. He attended more than 40 conferences or workshops and granted and shared in 24 projects in and outside Egypt.

Nanotechnology – A Revolutionary Approach in Pharmacy and NanoMedicine

Dr. Wael Mamdouh is a tenure-track “Assistant Professor” of Nanotechnology, at the Department of Chemistry, School of Sciences and Engineering at AUC and the leader of the “Biomedical Polymer Nanocomposites, Hydrogels and Tissue Engineering” research group at AUC. “Pharmacogenomics in Pharmacy Practice and Education”

Prof. Dr. Michael B. Bottorff is currently Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Manchester University College of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dr. Bottorff’s research interests have focused on the clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cardiovascular drugs, and he has served as principal or co-principal investigator on numerous clinical trials. Dr. Bottorff has published over 85 original research articles, book chapters and refereed reviews, along with over 50 research abstracts and extensively presented both nationally and internationally on such topics as drug therapy for acute coronary syndromes, management of dyslipidemias, understanding and predicting clinically important drug-drug interactions, and new strategies for managing atrial fibrillation. Dr. Bottorff is a recognized specialist in cardiovascular therapeutics. He has assisted in the implementation of guideline-based therapies and served on the first national panel to develop guidelines for the management of heart failure for AHCPR.

“Moving from a Competency Framework to a Competency-Based Curriculum: Kuwait’s Model”

Prof. Pierre Moreau obtained a BPharm and a PhD in pharmacology from Université de Montréal. After years of postdoctoral training, he was appointed Assistant Professor at his alma mater, and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and Professor. He helped develop an entry-level PharmD between 2003 and 2007, and he was nominated Dean in early 2007. In August 2014, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at Kuwait University as Dean, with the intention of bringing pharmacy education to North American standards, developing pharmaceutical research and fostering fruitful collaborations with local stakeholders.

“Board Certification in the US and Internationally” Dr. Brian Lawson is the Director, Professional Affairs for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in Washington, DC. BPS is an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and recognizes pharmacy specialties and certifies pharmacists’ knowledge and skills at the advanced practice level. “Impact of capsule shell composition on functionality” Dr. Nicolas Madit, after Graduating in chemical engineering from Montpellier, Nicolas completed his studies with a PhD in organic and polymer sciences. At Ciba-Geigy, he synthesized a new copolymer used as a specific transportation vector for drugs in the body. Nicolas started his industrial career in the ink jet printing industry where he developed one of the first specific water based ink used for dying PVC floor by inkjet printing and reducing the environmental impact of solvents currently used in ink. At Capsugel, he is working now for 25 years beginning as a research engineer and evolved in different departments from formulation, to Licaps production and now as Business development manager. During his career Nicolas was the author of several articles and filed patents in gelatin composition, pharmaceutical formulation and dietary supplement products.

“Solubilization enhancing drug delivery technologies” Prof. Dr. Sven Stegemann is Director for Pharmaceutical Business Development at Capsugel since 1997. In September 2014 he joined the Graz University of Technology in Austria as a Professor for Patient Centric Drug Product Design and Manufacturing. Prof. Stegemann is a pharmacist by training and holds a PhD in pharmacology. He started his career at Sanofi-Aventis working in different roles of the pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing cycle. “Imaging and drug delivery” Prof. Clive G Wilson, Ph.D., E.F.A.P.S., F.C.R.S. is a research professor in Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical sciences. He was formerly the J. P. Todd Professor of Pharmaceutics at Strathclyde University and is a past president of the European Union Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences. He remains on Senate with interests in European training policy and education. Major areas of research have been the study of the behaviour of drug formulations in man. With others, he pioneered applications of scintigraphy in the study of drug absorption following oral, nasal, pulmonary and ophthalmic delivery. His research group covers projects in novel polymer chemistry, oral bioavailability, microfabrication of implants for ocular drug delivery and drug-loaded stents. This is added to his long-standing and continuing interest in gastrointestinal physiology applied to the study of oral dosage forms and to the examination of ageing in the human eye. He has published more than 160 papers, seven books and over 100 reviews and book chapters and has supervised 64 Ph.D. and 1 M.D. student. He was made a Fellow of the Controlled Release Society in June 2010 and an Eminent Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences in September 2011.

Dr. Yousra Abdel-Mottaleb got her PhD degree in Pharmaceutical sciences from the laboratory of Toxicology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Dr Yousra research focus on isolation and characterization of peptide toxins from the venom of animals, including scorpions, spiders, sea anemones, cone and snails using biochemical methods (HPLC) and/or using molecular biology techniques (cDNA library construction, PCR) followed by characterization of amino acid sequence, using mass spectrometry. She acts as a medication management advisor for several hospitals including Dar Al Fouad, and International Medical Center. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the clinical pharmacy fellowship program (MOH) since 2012 and member of the clinical pharmacy committee in the MOH. Dr. Sabry provided several consultation medication management consultation services for hospitals preparing for JCI accreditation in Egypt and the Middle East.

Dr. Nermeen Nabil Ashoush has completed her PhD in 2015 from Ain Shams University in the field of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. Also, in 2015 she finished a Diploma in Health Economics and Outcome Research from the University of Washington. She is working as a Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, The British University in Egypt. She is also the Head of the Health Economics Unit, Center for Drug Research and Development, The British University in Egypt.

Prof. Nasser Saad, is professor of pharmaceutical chemistry, Future University, Egypt. 2011-2014 He was acting head of Pharmaceutical chemistry department, Ain Shams University. Post-doctor in Hoshi University, Tokyo, Japan. His scientific interests focused on using molecular modeling for development of anti-HCV, anti-tumor, anti-hypertension, hypnotics, and anti-malarial agents. His scientific production is reported in more than 25 international journals and three patents.

Guidelines

For Oral Presentations Accepted abstracts scheduled for lecture session presentation will be grouped by topics. You will be notified of your session and time via e-mail. Also check the meeting program onsite.

Authors of the accepted oral presentations are requested to submit a CD of their PDF power point presentation by 31st of December 2016.

For Poster Presentation Poster sessions will be held between 9 am & 5 pm. Author(s) should be available during breaks and lunch time to answer questions, expand on the material and take part in discussions. The following guidelines will be adopted:

1. Accepted abstracts scheduled for poster session presentation will be grouped by topic. You will be notified of your session and time via email. Also check the meeting program onsite.

2. Posters should be mounted on assigned boards. Locate your poster number in the meeting program. Your poster number will be posted on your board prior to setup.

3. The Poster Session is located in the conference dedicated area. 4. The Organizing Committee will not be responsible for posters that are not removed by

the end of each session.

Poster Layout 1. The size of the poster should not exceed 1.5 meter high – 0.85 meter wide. All posters must

be in “portrait” format. 2. Use a clear typeface and, if possible, a laser printer. 3. Posters should be readable from a distance of 1-2 meters. Therefore, your text must be not

less than 16 points to enable easy reading. 4. It is of high interest to have a large lettering for the poster's title, author and affiliation; the

font size of the title should be not less than 48 points. 5. Graphs and figures should be readable from a distance of 1-2 meters.

It is recommended to produce a handout of not more than two pages for your poster.

Instructions for Conference Registrants: 1. All Plenary and Keynote speakers will be registered by the Organizing Secretariat. 2. All Oral and Poster Presenters and other participants will be required to pay the

registration fee as indicated in Fee Structure. 3. Students – Students from academia may also register at a preferential student rate,

providing a copy of their student status/ID along with their submitted registration form.

4. Exhibitors - Each exhibiting company is entitled to a number of free exhibiting staff pass. They will be registered as 'Exhibitor Complimentary'. Any additional exhibitor is required to be registered at the normal rate.

5. Accompanying Persons may register through the registration category of the principal applicant. They will have access to all facilities availed by the principal applicant.
