Cast as a one piece unit in close grained, high duty iron.

Machined to accept dry liners.

All integral oilways are machined.



3012 Crankcase

Cast as a one piece unit in close grained, high duty iron.

Machined to accept dry liners.

All integral oilways are machined.



Crankshafts

Manufactured from a chrome molybdenum forging.

Nitride hardened on all surfaces.

except front and rear faces.

Balanced at machining stage.



Crankshaft regrinding

Re-grind to:

- 0,25 mm Re-grind & Re-harden:

- 0,50 mm Re-grind to:

-0,75 mm Re-grind & Re-harden:

Main Bearings Steel backed, lead/bronze bearings with a

lead/indium overlay.

Upper half fully grooved

Oversize bearings available to accommodate various levels of crank re-grind.



Connecting Rods

Produced from Chrome Molybdenum forgings.

Fitted in sets according to weight

Each Rod is stamped with an identification letter.



Pistons Cast in low expansion Aluminium alloy.

Open torroidal combustion bowl

Top ring has cast iron insert.

Piston crown marked:

‘EXHAUST SIDE’ for correct fitting

Machined slot for cooling jet.



Cylinder Liners

Produced from centrifugally cast iron

Joint face on top of flange has two ‘VEE’ grooves to assist gas sealing.



Cylinder Heads 3008.

Two identical cast iron (4 bore) cylinder heads per engine.

Two inlet valves per cylinder.

Two exhaust valves per cylinder.

Turbochargers

On 3000 series engines there is one turbo charger per bank.

Early 3008 had a single turbo.
