Gospel: John 20:19-23 or 14:15-16,23b-26 Once again we are reliving Easter night with Jesus and the disciples. He breathes on them, communicating the gift of the Holy Spirit. They gladly receive Jesus' Spirit and his ministry of forgiving sins. At Pentecost the Spirit will send

them forth as living signs that Jesus has overcome sin and death. 1)Peace and forgiveness are gifts from Jesus in the Holy Spirit. Do you need to be a more peaceful and forgiving person?

Administrator’s Corner for Parish Bulletin: May 19, 2013 Pentecost Sunday - C

What are the precepts of the Church? The five precepts of the Church are designed to bring us

closer to God through the Mass and penance. We’re to attend Mass on Sundays. As members of the

Body of Christ, we’re strengthened when we worship together. We’re to confess our sins at least once a year. We all com-

mit sin, often on a daily basis. Yet we see a lack of the sense of sin in our society. Confession brings us to recognize our sinfulness and return us to a state of grace.

We’re to receive Holy Communion at least during the Easter season. There are those who think they’re never worthy to receive the Eucharist and who never would without this precept.

We’re to keep the Holy Days of Obligation. These feasts honor the Lord, the Blessed Virgin, and the saints who teach us more about our faith.

We’re to observe the prescribed days of fasting and absti-nence. These acts of penance take us out of our comfort zone so we can focus on our relationship with Christ.

¿Cuáles son los preceptos de la Iglesia? Los cinco preceptos de la Iglesia están diseñados para acercarnos a Dios por medio de la misa y la penitencia. Debemos asistir a misa los domingos. Como miembros del Cuerpo de Cristo, estamos fortalecidos cuando oramos juntos. Debemos confesar nuestros pecados por lo menos una vez al año. Todos pecamos, a veces todos los días. Sin embargo, vemos la falta de sentido de pecado en nuestra sociedad. La confe-sión nos lleva a reconocer nuestro pecado y nuevamente nos lleva a estar en un estado de gracia . Debemos recibir la Sagrada Comunión al menos durante el tiempo de Pascua. Hay quienes piensan que no son dignos de recibir la Eucaristía y que nunca lo harán sin este precepto. Debemos observar los días de las fiestas de guardar. Estas fiestas honran al Señor, la Santísima Virgen y a los santos que nos enseñan más sobre nuestra fe. Debemos cumplir con las obligaciones de los días de ayu-no y abstinencia . Estos actos de sacrificio y penitencia nos ayudan a que volvamos a centrarnos en nuestra relación con Cristo. ¡Dios los bendiga! Fr. Alex

Coming Up Soon: Mass Intentions 2014: The Mass Intention Calendar for 2014 will open on Monday, June 3rd at 9:00am. Only one intention will be taken per Mass except for Community Masses, which are held every Monday at 8:00am. In order to accommodate all our parishioner’s re-quests, we are limiting requests to 10 per person. Forms are available at the Parish Office. Please note that ALL request’s must be made in person.

Children’s Ministry of the World:

Children Ministry of the Word will re-cess for the summer starting Sunday, June 9th. It will start again on Sunday, August 25th, 2013. Thank you.

Mandatory Meeting: There will be a mandatory meeting for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Com-munion. On Wednesday, May 29th, at 7:00pm right after the Flores de Mayo Rosary. The new changes will be ef-fective on June 1st, at the 5:30pm mass. For more information please contact Shirley Simpliciano, Kathy Par-ish-Reese (English) and Maria Rodri-guez (Spanish).

Campaign For Citizenship: The Bishops and other people of faith urge us to call on the President and Congress in order to create a fair immi-gration system that will provide a swift and direct path to citizenship and keep families together. You are invited to a fellowship on Sunday, June 2nd in the cafeteria after the 1:00pm mass to hear the immigration stories of some of our parishioners. . Refreshments will be served. Please join us.

Announcements: Dear Parents of Epiphany Boy’s Sport Participants, This note concerns unreturned Epiphany athletics uniforms and the postponement of this year’s Epiphany Boys’ Award Night for the grades 3-7. If you have any Epiphany soccer, bas-ketball or baseball uniforms that were is-sued to your son which YOU WERE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY FOR, it would be a great help to our program if you would please return them to the PARISH OFFICE, before the final day of school on June 6. Group Leaders: The 2013-2014 Calendar request form will be available on Tuesday, June 4th. Re-minder -- all requests for meeting areas are ONLY scheduled on a FIRST received - FIRST assigned format. Be sure to pick up a request form from the Parish Office and return it to Jenny at the office by July 2nd.

School of Religion: Registration for the School of Religion is available at the Parish office beginning Saturday, June 1st. Deadline for registra-tion is Saturday, August 31st. Classes will start with an orientation on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 9:30am in the cafeteria. Those who are interested are encouraged to pick up the registration form at the Parish office. Town Hall Meeting: Archbishop Salvator J. Cordileone has comfirmed the coming back of our Pastor, Fr. Eugene Tungol on Mon-day, July 1, 2013. In view of this, there will be a Town Hall meeting on Sunday, May19th in the Cafeteria at 2:30pm. All Parish Council members, finance council, Leaders and Presidents of all Parish organizations and all interested parish-ioners. This meeting will help plan and schedule all Parish activities for July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 Church calen-dar.

Los obispos católicos y otras personas de fe nos instan a hacer un llamado al Presidente y al Congreso con el fin de crear un sistema de inmigración justo que ofrezca un camino rápido y directo a la ciudadanía y mantenga a las fami-lias unidas. Los invitamos a una reunión el domingo 2 de junio después de la misa de 1:00 PM en la cafetería, para aprender más acerca de esta postura y escuchar las historias de inmigración de algunos de nuestros feligreses. Se ser-virán refrigerios. Junta de Servicio: El Grupo Progreso de AA se reúne los Lu-nes, Miercoles y Viernes en O’keefe Hall de las 7pm-9pm. Las personas que quieran asistir están bien recibidos . Reunión Obligatoria: Las nuevas reglas para distribuir la Eucaristía empezarán a partir de la Misa de las 5:30 del sábado 1ro. de junio. Por tal motivo habrá una reu-nión mandatoria para todos los Minis-tros Extraordinarios de la Comunión el miércoles 29 de mayo a las 7:00pm después del Rosario de las Flores de Mayo.
