• FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: June 3 is First Communion. All parents/guardians of Children who will be making their First Holy Communion are reminded of their retreat on Wednesday May 30 at 6.00 p.m. Retreat for the candidates is from May 31 to June 2 from 9.00 a.m. All parents/guardians and candidate must attend the retreats and be on time.
• PENTECOST RALLY: Everyone is invited to the Pentecost Rally at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, May 28 (Whit Monday) from 8:00 a.m. The Guest Speaker is Deacon Alex Jones from Detroit. Registration is $10.00 and T-shirts $20.00.
• CORPUS CHRISTI TRIDUUM: The Cathedral Parish invites everyone to a Triduum in preparation for the celebration of the solemnity of Corpus Christi (A Holy Day of Obligation) from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th June from 6.00 p.m.
• SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: Holy Mass will be celebrated at 3.00 p.m. at the St. Joseph the Worker Church. All Children who Made their First Communion on June 3 must attend in their First Communion outfits; all confraternities, choirs, parish groups etc. must attend in uniform and carry their banners for the procession.
• FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART: June 15 is the feast of the Sacred Heart and marks the beginning of the 112 year of the existence in the Parish. All members and person
desirous in joining the confraternity are asked to attend the First Friday Mass and Devotions to the Sacred Heart. On June 9, all Sacred Heart members and interested persons are invited to a day of recollection at the Pastoral Centre, Marisule from 9:30 a.m. Please call the Parish Office or Mrs. Ashlyn Philip at 485-3620 for more information and registration.

What this means is that by our receiving of Christ's Body and Blood, we are willing to share in his self-sacrifice. We are willing to die with Christ. It is not a mere physical death that we agree to, however. We agree to die to our sinfulness and selfishness when we celebrate the
Eucharist. We agree to sacrifice ambitions and priorities that are out of sync with the message and ministry of Christ. We agree to let die any imbalanced concern for our own needs so that we might generously
respond to the needs of others.

SOMETHING TO PONDER
We can not control the time, or the form, the Holy Spirit chooses. That doesn´t necessarily mean we lose all control when we experience an out-pouring of the Holy Spirit. Peter was still able to give a very reasonable message. Power for witnessing was the focus, not an emotional high. Of course it must have been an emotional high for them and so it is for us when the Holy Spirit manifests, but it has a purpose and that purpose is extrovert.
To sum this up, we may keep these thoughts:
⇒ trust and obey God´s general and specific word
⇒ be in unity, in prayer, with an ex-pectant and open heart
⇒ time, place, person or method are not yours to control
⇒ open your mouth and speak, share with others, testify!

During this Sunday Eucharist, let us ask Mary, who was there, present at the coming of the Spirit, to open our heart so much that it will be able to receive
all the gifts of the Spirit that the Father would like to grant us through his Son Jesus
on this great day of Pentecost 2012
Mary is a model for us of how to trust in God and how to follow His will. As we move into
that future, let us listen to Jesus speaking to us. Let us grow in faith. Let us pray to the
Holy Spirit to have the wisdom, the faith, and the perseverance of Mary to follow God’s
will for us. Remember: “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” (John 20:29)
T he same Spirit came to dwell in the Church on the Day of Pentecost as descended on Jesus at his baptism: body and head share one life in the one Spirit. Christ is present in the Church because the Church is filled with his Spirit. This means that the mission of Christ is continued in her. In every age, the Spirit gives the Church utterance so that she may proclaim in every language and culture the mighty works of God. The spread of the
Church into every culture and society is witness to this.
The mighty works of God are all his actions in our lives and our history, but most fundamentally they are the great interventions that frame the history of the universe: creation, the incarnation, the birth of the Church at Pentecost, and the return of Jesus at the second coming. This last is yet to occur, and so the proclamation looks forward as well as back. In the Spirit, the Church proclaims God as Creator of all things and his Son Jesus Christ who died, rose, ascended into heaven and will come again in glory.
As we celebrate Pentecost this year the Holy Spirit wants to renew his life within us. He wants to give each of us that utterance which will make our neighbours hear Christ in our words and see him in our deeds. Painfully aware of how inadequate is our witness, today we nevertheless celebrate the Spirit who does manifest the life of Christ in and through us. He has done so for two thousand years despite all human sin and apathy, and he will continue to do so in the life of each of us.
Holy Spirit, giver of life, put a new song in our heart and a new tongue
in our mouth that we might sing the praises of God with the angels
and proclaim his wonders to our neighbours

Celebrating Our Catholic Faith The Fruit of the Spirit
WHAT IS TRINITY SUNDAY
Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost to honor the Holy Trinity - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although the word “trinity” does not appear in Scripture, it is taught in Mt. 28:18-20 and 2 Cor. 13:14 (and many other biblical passages). The concept of the trinity can never be completely understood or rationalized, but it is clearly taught
in Scripture. Understanding of all scriptural doctrine is by faith which comes through the work of the Holy Spirit; therefore, it is appropriate that this mystery is celebrated the first Sunday after the Pentecost, when the outpouring of
the Holy Spirit first occurred.
On Trinity Sunday, the Christian Church ponders with joy and thanksgiving what the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have done to accomplish the salvation of sinful humanity. It is brought to remembrance how Christians should
respond to the love God has shown us, praising Him and giving Him glory. We remember the Father as our Creator, the Son as our Savior and the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. Scriptural readings for the Trinity Sunday ceremony may
include Ps 8, beginning and ending with, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” 2 Cor. 13:11-13 appeals to believers to aim for perfection and live in peace, ending with the prayer that the grace of
Christ Jesus, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all, including again the commission Jesus left
for believers in Mt. 28:16-20.
