in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they
perform for us in our time and need. We ask this in the name of Jesus,

to oppose Physician Assisted Suicide bill (S.3947Savino/A.2694 Paulin).
PAS is a slippery slope –If approved with a 6 month terminal diagnosis, it will be impossible to limit it to this
group. In Oregon, lawmakers have considered extending it to one year and allowing euthanasia.
There are increasing financial incentives to limit care. Assisted suicide is far less expensive than palliative and
supportive care at the end of life. As insurance companies and governments seek to reduce health care spending, they may promote this option to reduce expenses. In Oregon,
some patients noted that lethal doses of drugs were covered by their insurer while cancer treatments were not.
There are alternatives to assisted suicide. Almost all physical pain can be controlled through pain management
and medications, and measures that are unduly burdensome may be removed or withheld, allowing natural
