SECRETARY MANAGER’S REPORT 2
Hello Members,
The INXS Tribute Show is returning to
Penshurst RSL on the 28th February,
commencing at 8.30pm. This time they
have joined forces with The Cold Chisel
Show to treat everyone with some of
Australia’s most iconic rock music. For
just $10, you will be guaranteed a great
night of entertainment from these two
popular Tribute bands. Please note this
is strictly an 18+ only event.
Don’t forget our Membership Badge
Draw which now runs every Monday
&Tuesday night from 6pm, definitely
worth dropping in for your chance to
win. This year we have also included a
2nd chance draw to the amount of
$100, which will be drawn on the nights
that the Jackpot doesn’t go off.
Additional to the Badge Draw, our
Monday and Tuesday nights offer
plenty of value to our members as we
run Happy Hours from 5pm to 7pm on
both evenings.
Another fun event at Penshurst RSL is
our fortnightly Karaoke nights. This
month will be on Saturday 7th and 21st
February from 8pm.
It’s almost time for our Footy Tipping
Competition to start up again. In order
to be a part of this competition you
must register so please see our
Reception team prior to the
commencement of the 2015 season.
The first NRL tipping selections must be
in by 6pm on Thursday the 5th March
2015.
I would like to advise members of two
staff members that have recently been
rewarded in line with our staff
incentive scheme. Georgie O’Neill has
worked tirelessly over the past few
months & has done a tremendous job
in building the Club’s new website and I
would encourage all members to check
it out at www.penshurstrsl.com.au. I
also received feedback from a member
in regards to outstanding customer
service performed by Phill Horton who
works on reception.
The 2015 Annual General Meeting will
take place in the Club’s Auditorium at
10:00am on Sunday 22nd March, all
members are welcome to attend this
event.
It was sad to hear the passing of
Margaret Smith (former Secretary
Manager) losing her battle with cancer.
Our wishes are with her Sister Julia
through this tough time.
On a final note, the Club financials are
currently being audited and I look
forward to publishing the 2014 result
to all of our Members very soon.
Happy New Year to all Members!
Regards,
Chris Hendley

SUB CLUB NEWS 6
THE PENSHURST RSL YOUTH SWIM CLUB After a really busy December & a month off over the
summer school holidays, Swim Club resumed this week
with 105 members. It’s great to see most of our
swimmers are preparing to enter their primary & high
school swimming carnivals, we wish them all the very
best of luck & can’t wait to hear how they went.
REPRESENTATIVE SWIMMING We were all very proud that the Penshurst RSL Swim Club had 41 of its members qualify for the 2014 Zone Championships in December. We won 13 Gold, 12 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. A whopping 21 of our swimmers qualified for the NSW RSL STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS which are to be held in DUBBO in March. We wish our State Swimmers all the very best & can’t wait to see what March 14 brings. Only two more weeks of enrolments before our membership closes for the season. Our Stroke Development class has some vacancies as does our water awareness/learn-to-swim programme for children aged 4 and over. Call/email for more info.

TRAVEL CLUB By the time you read this, we will have been on our first day tour for 2015: the fully-booked Sydney Har-bour ‘Fun Boat’ Cruise on 29 Janu-ary, and it is hoped to write a para-graph about this in the Club’s March Newsletter. Our organiser, Elizabeth, likes to start the year off with a boat trip and in recent times we’ve enjoyed days on the Hawkesbury, Georges and Port Hacking Rivers.
Our first long trip in 2015 is in March and this is fully booked. However, two extended tours have just been added to this year’s pro-gram: Christmas in July on 18/19 July, spending the weekend at Port
Stephens. The second is a four-day mid-week tour to Rydal in Septem-ber for their annual Daffodils Festi-val, staying for the three nights in Oberon and visiting other attrac-tions in the area. The itinerary for this tour is now available and it will open for bookings at our February meeting. Christmas in July should open the following month.
We are eager to have more people join us for the 19-day New Zealand tour of both islands from 7 – 25 November which is now booking. It requires a $200 deposit per per-son and the balance may be paid off until the final payment date of 5 August. The basic itinerary is
now on our website:
http://pentravelclub.weebly.com.
If you would like to become a member of the travel club, our next monthly meetings are Wednesdays 4 February and 4 March, starting at 6.45 pm in the auditorium. An annual member-ship fee of $6 will cover you for the period 1/7/2014 until 30/6/2015, but you must be a member of Pen-shurst RSL Club to join. If you would like to contact us in the meantime, please e-mail [email protected] or phone 9533 5809 (please leave a message if necessary).
