How do I learn more about
Preparation for Tomorrow
Southern Regional Education Board
What is SREB?
A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works with 16 member states to improve public pre-K-12 and higher education. Founded by the region's governors and legislators in 1948, SREB was America's first interstate compact for education. Today it is the only regional education compact that works directly with state leaders, schools and educators to improve teaching, learning and student achievement at every level of education. SREB's mission is ambitious: to help SREB states lead the nation in educational progress.
SREB Chair for 2013:
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal 3

America 2013 Nearly 1.3 million teenagers in the United States
drop out of high school each year. More than 25% of the high school class of 2006
failed to graduate on time. 20% of current college graduates hold low wage
jobs Percent of children in poverty in 2012---24.6% The current traditional high school curricula do
not work for many students. Our nation’s STEM workforce sectors have a
shortage of qualified workers. The nation’s high school curricula and
workforce needs are not aligned.

1. Why do I need to know this ? 2. Where will I ever use this ?
All teachers say: 1. I can use this teaching method in
my classes. 2. This teaching method address
how to meet the common core standards
Because we pay equal attention to teaching both the essential academics AND the technical content .
