CVM is one of India’s leading NGO and non-profitable charitable organization working in the field of education founded to cater education to the rural mass of Gujarat. In this age of the Global Village, when global interdependence and competition are upon us, CVM is trying to educate and train our youngsters to keep up and keep pace with the best and the brightest in the world. CVM is offering all the programmes of study appropriate to the modern age,
and maintaining high standards of education. CVM is always supporting all the activities for Students and faculties’ development. – Dr. C. L. Patel, Chairman
Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidyalaya
Sixty Eight years before, Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel kindled a lamp of rural knowledge centre – ‘Vallabh Vidyanagar’ in Gujarat, and today this centre is a ‘Bodhigaya’ for over forty thousand young scholars studying in thirty six disciplines at Sardar Patel University and Gujarat Technological University. BVM is the first engineering college of state established way back in 1948 by inspiration and motivation of Iron man of India Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and generous contribution from Shri Ghanshyamdas Birla; functioning under umbrella of Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM). More than 19000 engineers have been graduated from BVM College. It Offers B.E and M.E/ M.Tech degree courses. The college is affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University. It is the matter of pride that this Institute is awarded prestigious World Bank Assistance Project, TEQIP-II with aim of quality improvement to increase employability of the graduates. Majority programmes of BVM are awarded Accreditation by NBA-AICTE. BVM is the first Autonomous engineering Institute of Gujarat State.
TEQIP-II: Technical Education Quality Improvement programme-II (TEQIP- II) of the World bank assisted, funded by MHRD, Government of India and Government of Gujarat aims to improve the quality of Technical Education by providing inputs like modernization of laboratories/STTPs, library, faculty development, networking between institutions, curricula development, research and improve Interaction with Industries etc., to become dynamic, demand driven, quality conscious, responsive to rapid economic and technological developments occurring both at national and International levels. BVM has been one of 190 Institutes nationwide selected for TEQIP-II. BVM met all 10 indicators in 3rd joint review mission organized during April-May 2014 by the World Bank, NPIU, and MHRD, Government of India. Ninety-four institutes worldwide and only BVM in the state could meet all 10 parameters.
Two week Short Term Training Programme on
“Pedagogy & Effective use of ICT in Engineering Education & Academic Governance”
About STTP Every Indian learner deserves to be given a chance to have the highest quality education.
Scarcity of trained teachers critically hinders this national desire. The main focus of this
Programme is to work with Engineering Colleges in the country to enhance the teaching
skills of faculty in core Engineering and Science subjects. Pedagogy (etymology and
pronunciation) is the discipline that deals with the theory and practice of education; it thus
concerns the study and practice of how best to teach. Its aims range from the general (full
development of the human being via liberal education) to the narrower specifics of
vocational education (the imparting and acquisition of specific skills).
Educational technology is now ubiquitous, however, the potential of these technologies is
lost without appropriate pedagogical strategies. Teachers not only need to have a
knowledge of which ICT tools are relevant for education, but more importantly how to use
them effectively. This STTP focuses on which pedagogical strategies are effective while
using ICT tools in a given teaching-learning situation. In this STTP, participants will begin
by articulating the objectives for their course, and explore tools appropriate for some
pedagogical goals of engineering courses. Participants will learn effective strategies for
teaching with these tools. The STTP will give participants several opportunities to apply
these strategies to design materials and activities for their courses.
Experts from NBA, NITTR, Industrial Expert, Education Consultant, Uni. and other reputed
organizations have delivered the talk in the STTP.
Inaugural Session:
The STTP was inaugurated by esteemed Chief Guest Dr. Rajul Gajjar (Officiating VC, GTU
Ahmadabad), Keynote speaker Dr. B. G. Patel, Provost – Changa, Prin. S. M. Patel, Hon’ble

54 participants from various Degree and Diploma Colleges in any branch of Engineering,
Pharmacy, MBA, MCA and Humanities across Gujarat remain present in the inaugural
