Bhavan's FaithLet me once more set forth the Bhavan's faith for the benefit of new students and members, for it is necessary that they should understand it clearly and imbibe its spirit. The Bhavan stands for the reintegration of Indian Culture.

In a world falling pieces under the impact of an amoral technological avalanche, it tries to hold fast to the fundamental values for which our culture stands:

RITA, SATYA, YAGNA AND TAPAS;FAITH in God who forms the Cosmic Order;

TRUTH which is a cord between mind, word and deed;DEDICATION which offers all movement of life as an

offering to God;

SUBLIMATION which purifies the body and mind and transmutes instincts, passions and emotions into things of beauty.This regardless of form and doctrines is Dharma, the three fold aspects of which are SATYAM, SHIVAM, SUNDARAM - Truth, Love and Beauty.

For these values our forefathers lived and died. So did Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Dayananda, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhiji and Sri Aurobindo among moderns.

These values are embedded in our national outlook.

We command the respect of the world because of them.

We can look forward to the future with confidence only because they have the vitality which gives the power to vindicate their validity even in this fear-and-avarice ridden age of ours.

We must make every effort in restoring an awareness of these values in personal and collective life.

Our Inspiring SoulInception of Amritsar Kendra......

An ecstasy achieved through serviceSh. P D Kumar, the founder Chairman of Amritsar Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai amalgamated with the higher divine soul on 27th Dec. 2002. He had a wider vision for the residents of Amritsar and laid the foundation of Amritsar Kendra in 1991. This Kendra became his passion and he did all his sincere efforts to bring it to the zenith. He had envisioned it with distinctive education. He wanted that students should be brought up in a distinctive manner so that they are not taught only academics but also the real skill of true humane. He was authentic combination of virtues like humility, love, selfless-service, charity generosity and benevolence. He was audacious enough to choose his own path and become the torch bearer for the many. Sh. P D Kumar was an ardent image of Mahatma Gandhi, who had a strong notion of simple living and high thinking. He was not sympathetic only but empathetic also. He was concerned with every individual of his institute and in lieu he received bundles of respect and reverence. His staff and students use to call him “Bauji’’ out of their love and deep rooted respect.

As a spiritual person, he strongly advocated Chinmaya Mission Amritsar and its activities. Due to his quest to serve humanity Bhavan’s SL Public School is a favorite haunt of mission’s innumerable activities like Gyan Yagna Chinmaya Monthly Widow Ration Pension Distribution, Bal Vihar. Study Group, Gita Chanting Inter School Competition etc. Inspired by his ideology the school has started to organize the Mass Marriages twice a year and all the expense is borne by the school.

Today School is marching ahead with an absolute strength and substantiality, taking his Vision as the ultimate target. The faculty is very strongly dedicated in taking the lives of students on the right and ethical path. So that we can say with proud that they are Bhavanites.

”WITH THE END IN MIND” is a saying that vividly captures the secret of success in life. To begin with the end in mind is to start with clear understanding of our destination so that the steps we take are always in tune with right perspective. It gives us an edge to fulfill objectives according to our own pace and purpose. Fully realizing the truth inherent in this maxim, our founder chairman established in 1991 an educational institution with cherished objective epitomized in this philosophical time _____ “Lead Me from Darkness into Light”. Since then, this light house of knowledge, Bhavan’s SL Public School is ever on the onward march in moulding the lives of the students along with the pursuit of academic excellence. (Its continuing saga of success is nothing short of a dream came true).

Bhavan’s, fueled by the force of enthusiasm, motivation and extraordinary activities of the management, staff and parents as well, has continued to redouble the pearls of glory in academic, cultural and spiritual fields. Thus, over the years of struggle and hardwork, the institution has differentiated itself with the focus on innovation, openness and experimentation in different fields of education, fulfilling role in mind making and nation building. Thus it has really made its fragrance felt not in this historical city of Amritsar but all over the Punjab as a provider of quality education.

So dear parents, you are all welcome to be part of the school with a difference. Let us join hands and set about resolutely in providing services for the integrated and upright growth of the children. May God be with us in this noble venture.

Education is an incessant process….from infancy to maturity; the process by which a child adapts himself gradually in various ways to his physical, social and spiritual development. Bhavan’s is an institution where a child enters at an infant stage to learn the first step to cross the threshold till he reaches at maturity level. School is targeting the child’s stability in life. From the very beginning, school aims at developing discipline feeling, religious sentiments, controlling emotions and stimulating motivations. It is the development of all these capacities in the child which enables him to control his environment, fulfill his responsibilities and makes him a self-reliant person.

At Bhavan’s we perceive education and the teacher parent relationship not in business terms but with the nation’s growth in mind. A nation’s wealth is its young generation and parents and teachers have to play an important part as role models to help the child develop quality and integrity. As Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in his book “Ignited Minds” says, “I would even go to the extent of saying that if parents and teachers show the required dedication, India would get a new life.”

“We worry about what a child will become tomorrow,Yet we forget that he is someone today.”

Description of Pre WingPre wing of the school lays foundation stone to the student's life. A multi disciplinary approach to learning is adhered to at the primary level. Here, a strong emphasis is laid on English, Mathematics and Science. Students learn skills and concepts that serve them in their later years of learning. Value Education, Computer Skills, Music, Art and Craft, Physical Education create an environment that fosters a desire for learning, enabling children to develop emotionally, culturally and physically. Special attention is given to ensure and maintain high standards of education. Guardians are requested to collaborate in this by keeping a vigil on their ward's regular attendance, home tasks and activities schedule. Periodical reports keep parents informed about their child's performance in the classroom's activities. It's that period of life where our young saplings earn virtues, discipline, academic knowledge and of course good habits. So, the school put in its best to nourish the students personalities with love care and strictness which in return make them next to perfect.

As we are all aware, education is more than the acquisition of knowledge. Improving young people’s understanding, skills, values and personal development can significantly enhance learning and achievement. Learning outside the classroom is not an end in itself, rather, we see it as a vehicle to develop the capacity to learn. It provides a framework for learning that uses surroundings and communities outside the classroom. This enables young people to construct their own learning and live successfully in the world that surrounds them.

There is strong evidence that good quality learning outside the classroom adds much value to classroom learning. It can lead to a deeper understanding of the concepts that span traditional subject boundaries and which are frequently difficult to teach effectively using classroom methods alone. It provides a context for learning in many areas: general and subject based knowledge; thinking and problem-solving skills; life skills such as co-operation and interpersonal communication.

This is why school infrastructure is important for a child's growth A child spends his/her maximum time in school as a student. The school infrastructure then becomes a major factor behind how a child sees the world as he/she grows up. Schools, being the second home, serve a number of purposes in a child's life. From boosting their confidence to making them learn the importance of team work and socialisation, schools do it all. Away from home, schools become the place for children to spend their maximum time. Kids are sent to school considering the fact that there is an experienced hand to guide them and also a safe environment promoting growth. We also accept the fact that infrastructure plays a budding hand in creating a favorable environment for a child's growth.

Kulapati K.M. Munshi once said that real strenght of Bhavan would lie not so much in the number of its buildings or institutions it conducts nor in the volume of its assets and budget, nor even in the growing publications, cultural and educational activities. It would lie in character, humility, selessness and dedicated work of its devoted workers. They alone can release the regenerative inuences, bringing into play the invisible pressure which alone can transform human nature. Hence, as a proud follower of his ideology Bhavans SL Public School, Amritsar stands as brand for conservation and promotion of Indian values and rich cultural heritage and in turn stimulate the process of transformation of human nature and character building.

Shradha, Samyama & Samarpana..."Ageless message of faith, self discipline & dedication"

To attain our goal to modify the lives of our students we make them practice certain rituals and traditions which would become an integral part of their character. Gayatri Havan is performed on special occasions and every morning which is attended by one class and the students who have their birthday on that day. All religious and national festivals like Indipendence Day, Republic Day, Sri Krishna Janamashtami, Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Matri Puja, Basant Panchami, Gandhi Jayanti, etc are celebrated on the school campus with utmost zeal and enthusiasm every year, where students and sta participate whole heartedly. Following our tradition the school has started mass marriages for the upliftment of girls belonging to destitute families. Bhavans emphasises to foster religious harmony with its emphasis on Sarva Dharma Samabhav, equal respect for all religions.

Aashray is a home for abandoned girls and unattended senior citizens where they both will become the support of each other. The girls will get parents and senior citizens would get children. Thus holding hands with each other they would be able to feel and enjoy love, care, support and contentment. Though it would be a simulation and not a concrete reality yet it would surely give them a feeling that they do have a home where they could rest after a tiresome day and they have someone to share their feelings with.
