Greetings First Family, I am reminded of the many blessings that have been given to me throughout my lifetime. Where do these blessings come from? Jesus is the one that brings every blessing to our lives. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are prompted to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ for you.” We should give thanks to God with soul, voice, and obedience. As we give Him thanks, we should be humbled and have admiration for our Heavenly Father as well. Everyone should be thankful and make a habit of thanking God for their blessings. During this Thanksgiving season, let us remember to take the time to be grateful for our Savior, His church, our families and friends. I am so thankful for so many blessings that have been granted to me. I am thankful for you. Thank you, First Family for loving and caring for me. I am proud to be your pastor and I love you, as well. Finally, I want to say thank you to all those who gave candy, served or attended the Fall Festival. Your participation was such a blessing. Thanks for having such a big heart for our community. Student Leadership Meeting - Next meeting: November 13th after church on the 3rd floor!

YEC (Youth Evangelism Conference/Celebration) - Our youth will be traveling to Lafayette to the Cajundome for YEC this year! Sunday, November 20th through Monday, November 21st our group will be joining with students across the state for an evangelistic and equipping event designed to lead young people to Christ and challenge believers to greater accomplishments in Christ. Complete with high energy, inspirational youth speakers; top Christian vocalists and musicians; life changing youth testimonies; and sensational multi-media presentations, this event will erupt with the powerful message of sal-vation and the dynamic journey of discipleship. Sign-up is in the youth room. You must sign up by Thursday, November 17th in order to attend!

Youth Thanksgiving "Gobble til you wobble" Dinner! On Wednesday, November 16th, we'll be meeting at the Boxcar for our annual dinner! If you need a ride, meet at the church at 5:45 p.m. Time of celebration: 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Boxcar! Come enjoy Turkey and the fixins as we celebrate and give thanks to God for our lives. Sign-up in the youth room if you plan on attending!

Music Notes

Senior Adult Thanksgiving Luncheon – Make plans to join us on Thursday, November 17 at 11:30 a.m. in the Family Life Center Café for our Senior Adult Thanksgiving Luncheon. The church will be providing the turkey and dressing for this event. All you need to do is prepare your favorite holiday side-dish or dessert and come join us! Bro. Dick DeBusk will be our guest speaker. Please sign up in the church office if you plan to attend.

Community Thanksgiving Service - First Baptist Church will be hosting the annual Community Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. This year’s service promises to be the best yet, so don’t miss it!

Sounds of the Season - There are so many sights and sounds associated with the holiday season, and we want to help you kick-off this special time of year with an evening of special music. Make plans to join us on Tuesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. for Sounds of the Season. We will begin the evening in the Family Life Center with a meal provided by the church. Then, we will make our way to the Sanctuary where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a program of holiday favorites. There will be something for everyone, ranging from sacred classics to instrumental selections. You will not want to miss this holiday event, so bring a friend with you and be sure to sign up in the church office for this event. A nominal fee of $5.00 will be charged to help cover the cost of the meal. John
