Job Fit or Job Match
Instead of the standard method of hiring someone and
trying to wrap the job around them, job matching looks at
various characteristics of the individual to see how well
they fit the job. We do this by selecting top performing
professionals in a career and establishing a benchmark
using these successful people. You will notice that each
of the above profilers (assessments) has a job match
component. The overall job match combines all three into
one weighted score, the overall percentage job match.
PCK tells you that you may be interested in a career but
do not have the ability or the work values needed for that
career, conversely you may have the ability but not the
necessary interest. PCK helps take the guesswork out of
career selection, it steers students towards the career that
interest them. It has the ability to perform which guides
students in choosing which course has congruent values
or major to take and so avoid mid-course changes.

Measures the importance of six (6) work values available in a career and provides a job match percentage based on successful people with similar value.
The assessment covers:
• Achievement• Independence• Recognition• Relationships• Support• Working Conditions
The above profilers are generally administered on-line although can be taken in the traditional pen and paper form.
O*Net The O*net serves as the primary source of occupational informa-tion. It enables one to explore the world of work, and provides comprehensive information on key attributes and characteristics of workers and occupations. This is then built into the PCK career assessment. The O*NET database houses this data and O*net Online provides easy ac-cess to it. (www.onetonline.org)
Your ReportYour personal report has a list of matching jobs based on your combined abilities, occupational interests, and work importance/behavioral traits that have been demonstrated to be important for success in that job. The PCK report helps you narrow your search and identify careers that are best suited to you.
The occupational profiles on O*Net will help you under-stand various aspects of a particular job. These descrip-tions help build your understanding of the job just as your PCK report helps build your self-understanding.
Each O*Net Occupational Profile also provides extensive data organized in several groupings:
• Worker Characteristics Abilities, Interests, Work Values and Work Styles• Worker Requirements, Skills and Knowledge• Experience Requirements • Related Occupations and • Other factors
