17 years in 1 City: Dad and the community prepared me for the adventures ahead

Being the only child, I embraced resources from my environment and developed a strong sense of community.

My high school – we were required to wear school uniform daily.

Dad instilled in me an adventurous spirit. “If you do not try, your chance is always 0%.”

Adventure into different cultures: travel broadened my perspectives

Robben Island, South Africa “The hardest change is not physical, but to alter one’s way of thinking.” – the former prisoner.

Okinawa, Japan“Embracing the simplicity of life, and slowing down” is the islanders’ secret of longevity.

Langa, South Africa Shantytown kids live with so little, but are truly happier than many people living with so much more.

Influences: Hiking & BasketballAdventure into the wild: hiking increased my inner strength and self-confidence

Inspiration:A true story inspired me to walk toward the ultimate unknown – Mother Nature. I started hiking in 2009.

Sharing:I introduced the ‘hiking spirit’ to my friends, and invited others to join my other adventures.East Peak, Yellow Mountain, China Mt. Monadnock, NH

Learning:“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” - Ed Hillary.I enjoy being humbled by the mountains, and grow stronger.

Journey:I never owned a pair of hiking boots before. Now I have visited multiple summits above 4,000 feet.
