You can define your own Views and interrogate and drilldown on current or historical payment and deduction valuesfor any range of employees in just one process, with up to sixlevels of analysis and full criteria filtering. Submit Real Time InformationFrom employee creation to payment processing and RealTime Information (RTI) submissions, Opera 3 Payroll & HRis the solution you can rely on for worry-free processingcompliant with all the latest legislative changes. It catersfor the submission of Real Time Information to HMRC,including the Full Payment Submission (FPS) required foreach pay period. The FPS file is created as part of thepayroll process and contains information on Tax, NationalInsurance and other payments and deductions from anemployee, as well as new starter and leaver information.All RTI submission files adhere to HMRC specifications.

An important RTI requirement is to ensure employeedata is accurate. Opera 3 Payroll & HR has data contentvalidation and built-in integrity checks that will helpminimise the potential for incorrect information.

All the functionality you needEverything you need for autoenrolment of pensionsOpera 3 Payroll offers auto enrolment functionality asstandard, automating many of the processes involvedand making it easier for you to fulfil your auto enrolmentobligations.

The Calculation function in Opera 3 Payroll will assessemployees for auto enrolment based on age andearnings and will determine whether they are an eligiblejobholder, a non-eligible jobholder or an entitled worker.Various auto enrolment tasks, such as automaticallyenrolling employees and assigning them to a pensionscheme, or postponing employees, can be performed oneither an individual or a global basis.

Further key functionality includes the ability to record theemployer’s staging date and the earnings thresholds thatdetermine whether an employee should be automaticallyenrolled. Opera 3 Payroll can also record the variousstatutory settings required for auto enrolment as definedby The Pensions Regulator.

Employers can record various types of employeeinformation, such as auto enrolment category (eligiblejobholder, non-eligible jobholder etc), auto enrolmentstatus (auto enrolled, opted out etc) and various dates,such as the date the employee was auto enrolled.

Opera 3 Payroll also provides all the reporting tools andreports you’ll need to fulfil your auto enrolment duties,including record-keeping. Reports automatically includedetails related to auto enrolment .

Integration with pensionprovidersTwo popular pension providers with employers whenimplementing auto enrolment are NEST (NationalEmployment Savings Trust) and NOW: Pensions. Both arelarge providers who offer qualifying pension schemes,and NEST in particular has been set up with a publicservice obligation to accept any employer who wishes touse it for auto enrolment.

If you decide to use NEST or NOW: Pensions, Opera 3Payroll offers the option of integration with thosepension providers. This integration allows you to easilycreate employee information and contribution files readyto submit to the pension provider. For integration withother pension providers, the Pegasus SolutionsMarketplace offers a wide range of add-on solutions.

Salary sacrificeAuto enrolment of pensions is placing a new financialburden on employers who did not previously offerpension schemes. Salary sacrifice is an optional schemethat can help offset some of those costs, and cantherefore be financially beneficial for both employers and employees.

When an employer implements salary sacrifice,employees are asked to exchange part of their salary with non-cash benefits which can include pensioncontributions, childcare vouchers, cycle schemes, traveland others. When an employee's remuneration changesfrom cash, for which tax and NI contributions are due, tonon-cash benefits, which are wholly or partially exemptfrom tax and NI contributions, the amount of tax and NIthe employer deducts and pays to HMRC against theemployee's remuneration package is reduced.

To help employers who wish to implement salarysacrifice, Opera 3 Payroll includes salary sacrificefunctionality as standard. This functionality caters forboth pension and non-pension benefits. Salary sacrificeinformation is printed on the payslip. Pension salarysacrifice values are included in pension contributionreports and pension contribution files, and shown on theEmployee History form.

And much more besidesE-mail payslips and P60sThe cost of printing and posting payslips and the admintime involved can be a considerable overhead for everybusiness regardless of size, and especially those that rundifferent payroll frequencies. For larger companies suchoverheads are increased due to larger numbers ofemployees, but proportionally the cost is also high forsmaller companies, who have to allocate more limitedresources to the task.

Opera 3 Payroll offers the option to e-mail payslips and P60s to employees. It’s a feature that comes asstandard with the solution and can make paper payslipsand P60s a thing of the past. You’ll no longer need toprocure the relevant stationery, dedicate admin time orincur postage costs; at the click of a button, payslips andP60s can be delivered to the employee’s inbox as a password-protected PDF document.

E-mailing payslips to employees doesn’t just make thepayroll run more efficient and cost-effective for yourbusiness; it has benefits for employees too. Employeescan save and access all their payslips and P60selectronically, and print or re-print them at the click of abutton whenever required.

Of course, if paper payslips and P60s serve your companybetter, you can continue to produce them. Or you can usea combination of the two, with e-mail payslips for someemployees and printed payslips for others.

Using Pegasus Web Xchange, the Payroll Self Serviceapplication integrates with Opera 3 Payroll to offeremployees remote access to their payslips and P60s,personal data, pension information, absence details andholiday entitlement. This access can be Read Only, orpermissions can be given so that employees can updatesome of their own information such as their personaldetails, photograph, contacts, education records andbank account information.
