CHARITABLE TAX DEDUCTION INFORMATION
Starting this year there is a new tax deduction! Now you
can deduct up to $300 of charitable contributions on the
front page of your tax return and still use the standard
deduction. To claim this tax break, make sure you save
your cancelled checks and acknowledgement letters from
the church or charity. A few restrictions apply; the gift
can only be to a qualified 501(c)3 organization (such as
Holy Family), and in-kind donations cannot be used for
this deduction. Be sure to take advantage of this chance
to do well for yourself by doing good!
Prayer of Thanksgiving for Freedom Let us pray...God,
giver of all good gifts, Help us to be thankful for rest and
food, and remember that, in all we do or say, you are with
us, here this day. We are thankful for all you do and for
everything you have given us. But above all we are
thankful for our freedoms and the ability to protect others'
freedom. We are free because of you. We ask for your
continued blessing on all your creation. Through your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING of the
UNIVERSE
It is not a question of whether Jesus will come, but when
he will come. The gospels for the past two weeks have
warned us to be ready, to be alert for his coming. The
gospel message today asks us whether we belong with
the holy ones, the sheep, or the others, the goats. The
sheep are those who live a life of service to others; they
give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, and
they welcome the stranger. They will inherit the
kingdom. The goats are those who did not feed
the hungry, give water to the thirsty, and turned the
stranger away. Jesus warns us again to be alert, to follow
the gospel teachings, because he will come in the
disguise of a needy person, and when we do not meet that
person’s needs, we have also turned away Jesus. The
kingdom of God is now. The judgement day is now,
because the kingdom is now, right in our midst.
