PART-TIME

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMSThe International Center of Photography School offers three part-time programs: Continuing Education (CE) Track, Advanced CE Track, and Online Low-Residency. Welcoming both serious amateur photographers and aspiring professionals, these programs connect students with experienced faculty and provide access to the School’s state-of-the-art facilities in a flexible, part-time format. Each one is designed to help students define a creative vision, improve their technical skills, and expand their knowledge of the photography industry.

Talented, dedicated members of the faculty lead thought-provoking seminars that challenge students and introduce them to a world of photography that dynamically broadens their perspectives.

Elective course options complement the program’s uniquely tailored seminars, which are modeled after graduate thesis classes. Each week, faculty and students complete readings, engage in challenging discussions, and critique work to help each other understand how photographs communicate, as well as how to convey their own ideas more effectively.

ICP students receive guidance on the courses that best suit their skill level and join a community of peers, mentors, and teachers who are passionate about photography and eager to share their insights and experiences. Invest in your medium, and see where it takes you!

Coordinator, CE Track and Advanced CE Track Programs

CONTINUING EDUCATION TRACKThis part-time program provides a flexible way for participants to hone their photography skills in a supportive, creative environment. Each student is paired with a faculty advisor and offered a strategic sequence of classes drawn from our Continuing Education curriculum to support their individual goals.

Participants delve into photography through weekly presentations of new work, and are encouraged to explore ideas and experiment with new ways of working with the medium. Weekly critiques and lively discussions with peers reinforce assigned readings and coursework, providing students with fresh perspectives on their work.

CE Track students engage in new technical and theoretical approaches to making their work, and should be open to experimentation and discovery of ideas and technical skills.

ADVANCED CONTINUING EDUCATION TRACKThe advanced program is geared toward aspiring photographers who want to accomplish specific creative and career goals within a structured curriculum. The Advanced CE Track addresses the needs of those who would like to develop a single body of work under the guidance and mentorship of our renowned faculty.

Through a coordinated structure of both critique and technical seminars, students work with faculty to create books, websites, artist statements, and other professional materials. After completing the Advanced CE Track, students will have created, exhibited, and built strategies for the promotion of their work and will be equipped to pursue an artistic career or further their studies in an advanced degree program.

Advanced CE Track students should have a working knowledge of contemporary photographic tools, techniques, and critical theory; be competent with technical processes; and have experience in a critiquing environment as well as with contemporary criticism. In addition, participants should have a strong sense of the body of work they would like to develop throughout the program.

ONLINE LOW-RESIDENCY PROGRAMFor students unable to study year-round in New York City, ICP offers a one-year Online

Low-Residency Program. Participants engage in experimentation and discovery, and

develop both critical and technical skills through a carefully constructed curriculum

stressing creativity and practical development of professional skills.
