  • (project description)Design a restaurant with no restrictions in size, layout, or style. Inspired by electron microscope images and the raw beauty of the most basic forms of nature, this restaurant is high-end, welcoming, and funky. Patterns derived electron microscope images of pollen spores are seen in the carpet and on the walls. The dark dining space surrounds an atrium filled with citrus trees. With no glass separation, the trees grow into the dining space and the citrus scent flows freely to dining guests.

  • (project description)Entered into NEWHs Sustainable Design Competition, this spa is designed as a historic renovation in order to reduce waste from a new construction project. The interiors feature finishes that are either reclaimed, recyclable, or have an ultra-low impact on the environment. The furnishings were also selected with sustainability in mind and most pieces are made out of recycled materials and can be mostly recycled at the end of their life. The building maintains its historic street front facade, while the back facade was renovated and given a simple, modern look. With an estimated 85 points, this project would be rated LEED Platinum.
