This ‘N That

Father Jisaya was overwhelmed with the generosity of those who contributed to his charitable organiza-tion. We will send him the proceeds of this week’s Poor Box collection.

********** The month of October is set aside by the Church to honor Our Lady and especially encourages the say-ing of the Rosary. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young families to pray the Rosary with their children and an opportunity to explain to them all about the Mysteries of the Rosary. Please join us for the Rosary Rally which will be held October 13, from Noon to 2p.m. in the Church.

********** Several people have been asking whether they should be sending letters to the Archdiocese regard-ing the recent revelations regarding scandalous be-havior and oversights by church leaders. By all means, as the People of God, we are members of one family.

**********

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the

wickedness and snare of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the

ruin of souls. Amen

Ministry Spotlight Ushers

Ushers welcome and seat parishioners and visitors, as-sist with the collection and presentation of gifts at Mass and hand out bulletins at the end of Mass. They are the people at Mass who can help with problems and ques-tions. Their focus is to assure worshipers of a prayerful, safe atmosphere.

Ushers are asked to be at the church 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass and to stay 15 minutes after the Mass to straighten up the church and pews for the next Mass.

We are also working on security for parishioners and guests during and after Mass, this will be handled by some of the ushers.

If anyone is unable to go up to receive the Eucharist, they will speak to an usher prior to Mass and the usher will guide a Eucharistic minister to them. When a Mass is being said for a loved one and they would like to bring up the gifts, they will speak to an usher prior to Mass.

Would you like to become an usher? If you are a high school student or older, attend Mass on a weekly basis, are a practicing Catholic and would be interested in be-coming an usher, please contact Art Wendel at 845-258-0777 or by email at [email protected]. If you cannot commit to ushering every week we still need people to fill in. There will be a meeting for all new and present ush-ers on Thursday, October 18th at 7pm in the Church. We will review the responsibilities of ushering with both cur-rent and new ushers.

Prayer Lists

If anyone on the bulletin prayer list can be taken off, please let us know.

If you or a loved one is in need of prayer, we can add a name to the prayer list as long as permission

is given by the person going on the list.

You are also welcome to add a name for prayer in the book outside the windows by the

Baptismal Font.

Dedicate the Sanctuary Candle

The red Sanctuary Lamp reminds us of the sacramental presence of Jesus Christ. If you wish to have the Sanctu-ary Lamp burning in memory of a loved one, you may make arrangements with the Parish Office. The cost of the candle is $10.00. It will burn for one week. The me-morial will be published in the Bulletin.

Formerly known as “St. Stephen’s Youth Group”

Friday, October 5th, 6:30 -7:30 pm

Informational Meeting at St. Stephen’s School Cafeteria

This will be an informational meeting where we will out-line the details of this organization. We will be discuss-ing the group's role in the parish, its outreach, function and the opportunities for leadership and organization that it will provide. We will be defining our mission and make plans for its implementation. This will not be a traditional youth group! We will be working with the children to help them to understand how to reach out in the world as young Catholics. We are already planning our first trip to the Regional food bank, a new fundraising activity and much more!

All of this will be outlined at our first informational meet-ing. As parents you are welcome to attend and check it out! We think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you see.

This is going to be a group based upon,

Action, Leadership, Service and LOVE (AGAPE)

and will be a group that your child will be proud to belong to!
