HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY In today’s Gospel Jesus talks about life with his Fa- ther and the Spirit. He tells his disciples that what belongs to the Father belongs to him, and that the Spirit will take from what is his and give it to them. Jesus helps us understand that the relationship be- tween Father, Son and Spirit is one of perfect shar- ing and loving generosity. This shared life is the foundation for what we now understand as part of living life in the Trinity. The abundant generosity of those who are good stewards of the gifts entrusted to them gives us a glimpse into the love of the Triune God. Does the generosity with which we live our lives bear witness to God’s extraordi- narily generous life within us? PARISH RENEWAL After the experience of the REBOOT! LIVE in February we set a resolution for the renewal of St. Lawrence Parish. First we focused on three fundamental traits of the Amazing Parish: Reliance on Prayer (we are continuously praying for the renewal of the parish during weekend Masses and in a very special way during Saturday adoration), Clear Vision and Plan (making our Parish Mission Statement as a reference for decision making and planning) and Real Leadership Team. After trying a number of options for the Leadership Team we came to realization that the Pastors need a constructive and visionary Parish Pastoral Council. Within next few weeks we will be nam-ing members of the council. If you would like to suggest any names of the parishioners who truly embrace the renewal vision for our parish, who have passion and dedication to live our motto “Where Faith Builds Community” please talk to one of the pastors. ROLE AND FUNCTION OF THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCILS Canon Law provides for the formation of Parish Pastoral Councils in Canon 536 #1. "In every parish of the diocese, a Pastoral Council shall be established, if the diocesan Bishop, af-ter consulting with the Council of Presbyters, so decides. The pastor presides over the Pastoral Council. The Pastoral Council is composed of members of the congregation together with those of the parish staff who have pastoral care by reason of their office. The Pastoral Council assists in promoting pastoral action in the parish." The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body, pastoral in nature, because it strives to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit among God's people in the parish. A Parish Pastoral Council gives its help to the pastor in fostering pastoral activity; it investigates, under the authority of the pastor, all those things which pertain to pastoral works to ponder them, and to propose practical conclusions about them. It is essential that Council meetings occur in the context of prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit, so that at all times the common good will prevail. Specifically, the Parish Pastoral Council's purpose is to enhance the process of:

• pastoral planning • developing pastoral programs • improving pastoral services • evaluating the pastoral effectiveness of various programs and services

ROSES FOR LIFE – THANK YOU Dear Pastors of St. Lawrence Parish, On behalf of our Council we want to thank you and the parishioners for once again supporting the efforts of the Pro Life Movement against abortion with your prayers and generosity. From your par-ish the amount of $200.40 was raised with the offering of the small roses on May 7/8, 2016. Thank you sincerely. The proceeds will be donated to Hamilton Right to Life, Birthright, and Ange-la’s Place at Good Shepherd. May the holy family of Nazareth always be our guide and example to living LIFE in love of Jesus Christ.

Sincerely, Joseph Curto, Pro Life committee Knights of Columbus, Council 11451, Our Lady of All Souls Catholic Church.

NOVENA OF PRAYER FOR OBLATE VOCATIONS The Missionary Oblates invite you from May 21st - 29th to pray for vocations. Especially we ask you to pray that young men will re-spond to God’s invitation to become Oblate priests and brothers. Each day we invite you to say the Novena Prayer and to meditate on the theme for the day. The text of the novena is available on our parish website. At the end of your short meditation we ask that you en-trust this intention to Mary Immaculate, pa-troness of the Oblate Family, by praying the Hail Mary. Close to Jesus, close to Mary, we pray for the birth of new vocations. Merciful Father, You called St Eugene de Mazenod to send forth missionaries to pro-claim and live the Gospel among the poor. Increase our love, we pray, for those who are most abandoned. Extend your loving Call to many young people in our community and grant them the desire to give of themselves, their lives, and their talents to the service of Jesus Christ and the Church. May more men of our area go forth as Brothers and Priests of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate to serve those who are in need. This we ask through Christ our Lord. AMEN. RALLY AGAINST EUTHANASIA AND ASSISTED SUICIDE The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, Living with Dignity and the Physicians Alliance Against Euthanasia have organized a rally against euthanasia and assisted suicide on parliament hill on Wednesday June 1 (12 noon - 1:30 pm).
