APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Polytechnics will have the discretion to determine their
modes of assessment, such as:
- portfolios, interviews and aptitude tests, where relevant
and appropriate
- participation in relevant co-curricular activities (CCAs),
Applied Learning Programmes (ALP) and Applied
Subjects,
- as well as participation in activities such as work
attachments and sustained involvement in projects that
are related to the course students are applying for.
EARLY ADMISSIONS EXERCISE
(EAE FOR EXP)CONDITIONS
• A net ELR2B2 aggregate score of 26 points or
better for the GCE O-Level Examinations
• If this admissions criteria is not met, the conditional
offer will be automatically revoked upon the
release of the GCE O-Level Examinations results.
• However, student will still be eligible to participate
in the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) and other
polytechnic admissions exercises at that point.

college (JC) on the basis of talents and

colleges that can develop the students in these

• Students must research on the criteria for admission
from the participating JC and apply directly to the
institution.
• The selection process differs across schools, and for
different DSA categories.

character reference. Schools may also administer
interviews, tests, or trials.

What’s the Difference?
• acquire mathematical concepts and skills for
higher studies in mathematics and to support
learning in the other subjects, with emphasis in
the sciences, but not limited to the sciences;
• develop thinking, reasoning, communication,
application and metacognitive skills through a
mathematical approach to problem solving;
• connect ideas within mathematics and between
mathematics and the sciences through
applications of mathematics; and
• appreciate the abstract nature and power of
mathematics.
AIMS
• Add Math is NOT required for any course at JC or
Poly; however
• Add Math gives students an enormous advantage
after secondary school
• H2 Math in JC and many courses in polytechnics
will cover Add Math concepts more in-depth, but
at a much faster pace
• Students with Add Math background will find
such courses familiar and can focus more on
new, challenging concepts introduced only at the
tertiary level
