To support the mission of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in producing graduates who are prepared to face global challenges, 22 students from Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) UTM, has been selected for participate in academic Korea Exploration at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. The program lasts for seven days starting from 28 January 2011 to 4 February 2011.

The main goal of this program is to provide an initial overview to students about opportunities for further studies abroad. The students will also gain experience of learning systems as well as a detailed exposure of the expertise used in there .Such programme useful as it can help UTM to create a network of cooperation with international universities and therefore introducing Malaysia there .Besides that this programme are also aimed to promote Malaysian culture in the international community and at the same time promoting Malaysia.

The dialogues and academic visits in the three best universities in the United Kingdom the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford and Imperial College is to encourage students to exchange ideas about learning, policy and technology expertise there to adopt in Malaysia. And friendly discussion with Cambridge University ISOC (Cambridge University Islamic Society) was held to forge friendship between students in the United Kingdom, and students from Malaysia to open the minds of students and provide opportunities for Malaysian students know the culture clash situations (cross-culture) that true in Western countries. In addition, friendly council in London with the ambassador of Malaysia, Datuk Abd Aziz Mohammed will also be held to introduce the program.

Hopefully, this program will help in producing more competent students and raise the name of Malaysia on the world stage. In addition, it also can create students who are sensitive to global change and manage to express progressive ideas in the effort to make the graduates from UTM as a balanced and harmonious technocrat in terms of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical who are wanted and useful to the employer.

3.0INTRODUCTION

Besides having excellent results in academics, the students should be aware of current developments within and outside the country to ensure they are not left behind in this borderless world. To realize this mission of producing universities students who are ready to face global challenges, the students should strengthen themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Students also must train themselves towards professional graduates in performing assigned tasks. In addition, nowadays communication skills are very important and a key in interacting with the outside world.

For who will achieve this goal, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor through the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was created and designed a program that can highlight personal skills and leadership talents of students and expose the students to the learning environment and a different way of life. In addition, the program is expected to achieve the goal of universities in producing graduates who are prepared to face global challenges and subsequently gained recognition as an International University.

Therefore, cultural and scientific exchange program is designed to produce students who are competitive, and potentially able to exchange ideas about learning, policy, lifestyle in the international level. This programme is expected to be a pilot programme to excel personal development of students, especially students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. In addition, this program also continued to assist the UTM establish networking with international universities.
