Mrs. Bacon, our Community Outreach Coordinator, is responsible for keeping you engaged in what
is going on here at Prince Street. In an effort to do so, she will be hosting monthly parent

Music With Ms. Cook
Welcome back to school Prince Street families! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break. We are ready to rock and roll here in the music room! I have lots of fun ideas for this month, and I can't wait to get started!
I am very excited to announce our new theatre teacher, Mr. Johnson, from Wicomico High School! In October, he will be continuing to teach some of our 3rd through 5th graders the basic principles of acting. The rest of our scholars will be in music with me, expanding their knowledge of dynamics (volume level) and tempo (speed) through singing, instrument playing, and more. My younger scholars will be developing their sense of steady beat, an essential element in all music, and learning the four voices (whisper, talk, shout, and sing) through fun games and activities!
For my orchestra scholars, thank you for joining the program! I am SO happy to have you all learning a string instrument and making music with me. Always reference the calendar I gave out, which has all the dates we meet for orchestra. Scholars will need their instrument and folder for every class! Remember, practice does not make perfect...but it makes PROGRESS! I can take a few more scholars who are really interested. If you want to join, please email me at [email protected].

Title I schoolwide schools create school improvement plans
(SIPs) to provide a quality program to meet the needs of all
students. These plans are available for review by all members of
the school community. There may be times when everyone is not
in agreement with the priorities or direction of the plan and may
feel more attention should have been directed to other areas. In
these circumstances, parents are encouraged to share their
comments and/or concerns regarding their school’s SIP with the
school administrator or Title I Office.
To express a concern, an individual may obtain a SIP Comment
Form in the school office. Complete and submit the form to the
Building Administrator and/or Title I Office for review.

Guidance Corner With Mrs. Opher & Mr. Raffa
Primary
Our primary scholars will focus on Bullying Prevention. The early years are the time to lay the foundation for appropriate conduct
and responses for our scholars. We will explore the feelings and choices of scholars that may have been involved in scenarios of being
bullied or possibly of being the bully.
The scholars will be presented with the skills and tools to take an active role in their community and school environment in
promoting a bully free environment. Please take time and reinforce the importance of having bully free zones! The scholars will be
taught the three facets of stopping bullying which include to recognize, refuse and report bullying to a caring adult that will listen and
help to keep everyone safe.
If you have any questions or would like more information about our primary scholars (K-2nd), please contact Mrs. Opher at the
school or email her at [email protected].
Intermediate
Wow! One month of school already in the books. Thank you, families, for supporting your scholars! If we can help in any way,
please contact us. You can also find information on our Prince Street Counseling Website. The link to the website is https://
sites.google.com/wcboe.org/psscounselingsite/
October is Bullying Prevention month. Our intermediate grades will be taught using the SecondSTEP Bullying Prevention Unit. They
will learn about what bullying is and how they can be an active part in preventing it at Prince Street and throughout the community.
Please join us in the fight to keep our scholars safe and active participants in the prevention of bullying. If you have any questions
or concerns, please contact Mr. Raffa at [email protected].
Media Corner With Mrs. Deal
Many Parents your students should have begun to bring home library books, except PreK and K. Please help reinforce with your child that it is their responsibility to take care of the books when they bring them home.
Books should be kept in a safe place away from younger brothers and sisters as well as pets.
They should not eat or drink while reading their library books.
Use a bookmark to save their place while reading.
Return books on time.
Establish a routine that will help them to be responsible book borrowers.
In grades 1 -5, taught by Mrs. Deal, we are reviewing how to take care of books and the organization of the library.
In PreK and K, taught by Mrs. McCabe, students are focusing on loving who they are.
