The Panhellenic Emergency
Grant was created in the spring of
2012 by the Panhellenic Council
with the purpose of assisting
sisters from all of our five
Chapters who are having difficulty
paying their Chapter dues
because of emergency situations.
The grant is offered every
semester, and all sisters are
eligible to apply for and receive
it only once in order to aid with
the dues for one semester during
their time at Allegheny. The grant is
funded by the Panhellenic Council
and donations, and it demonstrates
just one more way the Greek
community is willing to help its
members in times of need.
If you would like to donate to
the Panhellenic Emergency Grant in
order to help deserving sisters stay
involved in their Chapters, please

who could not afford them. A third event was
courage bands, where we made bracelets for
kids to cover their hospital wristlets. Our Chap-
ter also was active on campus participating in
Greek Week events such as Greek Olympics,
Greek God and Goddess, and Greek Sing. We
participated in SAMS, Students Against Multiple
Sclerosis, a lip-synching competition and philan-
thropy supported by all Greek Life. We also had
a successful formal recruitment, initiating 20 new
sisters in the spring! In addition, we celebrated
our 30th anniversary this year and invited alum-
nae to return to Allegheny for a luncheon with
sisters. About 100 sisters attended, with more
than half being alumnae. At this event we held a
silent auction and donated the proceeds to
Ronald McDonald House. We also promoted sis-
terhood bonding, creating an event called Sis-
terpalooza. For this event, we held fun activities
such as movie nights, bowling, and spa night all
week. At Greek Awards we earned the Greek
Spirit Award, as well as Chapter of the Year!
The Delta Chapter has been revitalized this
semester thanks to our 22 new members! We
welcomed our newest additions on Jan. 19,
and since then, they have been extremely
busy.
Our new members found their Alpha
Chi families on Feb. 27 during the Big/Little
Reveal Ceremony. At the beginning of March,
they attended their first formal and participat-
ed in SAMS, the annual lip-synching competi-
tion sponsored by the Greek community that
benefits Students Against Multiple Sclerosis.
This year, our new members performed a fun,
candy-themed number for the campus com-
munity. Finally, on March 8, our new mem-
bers became sisters through a beautiful initia-
tion ceremony planned by Tito Aderemi-
Ibitola, our vice president of ritual and frater-
nity appreciation. We are thrilled to welcome them into our
bond!
Not only have our new sisters brought much excite-
ment to the Delta Chapter this semester, but so have the
events planned by our executive board members. On Jan. 30,
current sisters and alumni gathered to celebrate the 122nd
birthday of the Delta Chapter, an event planned by Kerri Bar-
ron, vice president of membership programming. Our vice
president of philanthropy, Brianna Guarino, also has been
busy orchestrating events this semester to benefit domestic
violence awareness and Women’s Services. In February, the
Delta Chapter raised funds for domestic violence awareness
with an Alpha Chi/Theta Chi dance party and a Valentine’s
Day carnation sale. The Chapter also made blankets to donate
to Women’s Services and celebrated Hera Day by collecting
nonperishable food items, which were donated to Meadville’s
food pantry.
Eta Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi has been busy this
past year! We have held numerous philanthropy
events. The first was Pizza Pies with ADPi in October.
We sold $5 tickets to students, professors, and mem-
bers of the community to come to our event, where
they could design their own personal pizza that we
then cooked for them. Sisters also created a delivery
service on campus where we brought pizzas to stu-
dents who couldn’t make it to the event. We also had a
raffle, with baskets donated by sisters, and sold tickets
for the raffle. All the funds raised, more than $1,200,
went to Ronald McDonald House. Another event was
Belle of the Ball, where we collected prom and home-
coming dresses and donated them to girls in the area
The spring of 2013 began with formal re-
cruitment. On Bid Day, Theta welcomed 19 won-
derful new members. These 19 ladies became sis-
ters on Feb. 16, 2013. Mu Chapter continued to
focus on philanthropy through a fundraiser titled
“Who’s Your Lucky Charm?” to raise money for
the Theta Foundation, which provides scholar-
ships for Theta sisters across the country. Also,
members of Mu Chapter participated in the annual
CASA Children’s Fair in Meadville. Here, sisters
painted faces, led a dance contest, and advocated
on CASA’s behalf.
At the 2013 Greek Awards, Mu Chapter
once again received recognition for our hard
work and dedication to our academic endeavors
with the receipt of the Scholarship Award. Our
current chief financial officer and sophomore sis-
ter Jessica Stickel was named the Sorority Emerg-
ing Leader for 2013. We look forward to what the
future will bring.
During the 2012-2013 academic year, Delta
Delta Delta has continued to grow and ex-
ceed expectations as a Chapter at Allegheny
College. Our recruitment efforts proved suc-
cessful, as we welcomed 24 new pearls into
our Chapter. The pearls became pines in
March when they were initiated into the
Chapter. Also, 20 senior members went
through circle degree in April. It was sad to
see them go, but we are very excited to see
what their futures hold.
Our philanthropy efforts have
reached a new standard as we work hard to
raise more and more funds for St. Jude Chil-
dren’s Research Hospital each year. After a
successful pancake breakfast, pancake din-
ner, and sincerely yours letter-writing cam-
paign, we raised approximately $20,000 this
year. In addition, several sisters traveled to
Memphis to participate in the St. Jude half
marathon. Our assistant philanthropy chair
also was given the opportunity to travel to the
hospital and experience first-hand what all of
our hard work goes toward. Some of our officers trav-
eled to Texas this year for the Collegiate Leadership
Conference. They had the opportunity to interact with
sisters from around the country and bring back great
new ideas to help our Chapter grow.
Tri Delta also won this year’s SAMS lip-synching
competition by taking the title of most creative perfor-
mance and overall best. At the 2013 Greek Awards, Tri
Delta took away the Outstanding Philanthropy Award, as
well as individual awards, including Katie Shanahan as
Greek Woman of the Year and Dana Preston as Lasting
Legacy. We’ve had a great year and are building strong
sisterly bonds that will last a lifetime.
The sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta, Mu Chapter,
have had a successful 2012 and start to 2013. In
the fall of 2012, we were Greek Week champi-
ons. During the week, members participated in
events including cake decorating and Greek
Olympics. Sister Breana Gallagher also was
named 2012‘s Greek Goddess. The week con-
cluded with the annual Greek Sing competition.
At this event the Thetas also were victorious
with a performance themed “Let’s Get KAO-tic.”
Following Greek Week, Mu Chapter
began preparing for the annual Pasta for CASA
dinner. This year we were successful in raising
$2,615.21 for the Meadville CASA chapter. To
close out the fall of 2012, Mu Chapter earned the
highest GPA of all the Greek organizations on
campus.
raised. All of the sisters are so proud of how suc-
cessful this event was.
As far as sisterhood for the spring, it has
been stronger than ever. The recent sisterhood
retreat to a bed and breakfast has strengthened
the bonds within Gamma Rho. In fact, we held
an additional Fireside to include a newly initiated
member who did not have the opportunity to expe-
rience this ritual event. It was rewarding to see her
feel so included as an individual within a Chapter
of 80.
It's also very exciting to share that it is
Gamma Rho's 125th year on Allegheny's campus!
There was a small sisterhood event within the
Chapter in February. The sisters shared what Kap-
pa means to them over cookies and a movie. Kap-
pa Kappa Gamma has had a year that has strength-
ened our bonds and displayed our commitment to
giving back to the community. Through continuing
those positive actions, we hope to be on campus
for another 125 years.
Kappa Kappa Gamma has had an eventful aca-
demic, philanthropic, and social year. In the fall,
Gamma Rho initiated four new members. The
usual excitement arose from inspiration week,
big little week, and initiation itself.
Fall Formal was held at the Italian Civic
Center, were sisters danced the night away. Our
most meaningful social event of the semester,
however, was the Special Persons Brunch. The
sisters invited one person who has had a signifi-
cant impact on their lives for brunch in Tippie.
Everyone's special person was celebrated and
given a glimpse of the strong sisterhood that ex-
ists in Gamma Rho.
Philanthropically, Gamma Rho held a sis-
terhood event where we helped our charity,
Reading is Fundamental. We helped put all the
necessary information inside letters asking for
donations. It was work made enjoyable by Justin
Bieber songs, good conversation, and most im-
portantly, the knowledge that we were positively
impacting our charity. Another philanthropic
event, Alpha Chais and Kappachinos, displayed
our sisterhood’s generous and Panhellenic na-
ture. During finals week, sisters from Kappa
teamed up with Alpha Chi to give away free
drinks and donuts in the library to positively en-
courage students.
In the spring, Gamma Rho initiated 20
new members. These new members participated
in a lip-synching competition to raise money for
SAMS, Students Against Multiple Sclerosis. Gam-
ma Rho as a Chapter was the sorority that raised
the most money by asking for donations from
students as well as alumni. The most notable phi-
lanthropy event was the "lights camera action"
talent show. Kappa teamed up with Phi Delta
Gamma to put on an event to remember. There
were about 20 acts over the course of two hours
in the Campus Center, and roughly $1,600 was
