Technical Information

1Band-limited pink noise is applied to the MB4 speaker and amplified to a level at the loudspeakerterminals corresponding to 1 Watt as referenced to the nominal impedance. The PANARAY MB4 modular bassloudspeaker is a 200W, low-fre-quency loudspeaker that can beused for indoor permanent installa-tions and for portable applications.Multiple MB4 speakers can becombined to effectively create alarger single bass enclosure resultingin higher SPL.

The MB4 speaker’s output, band-width and size make it useful as asingle bass unit, or as a modularbuilding block to match other Bose®

products in most professionalsystems.

The MB4 speaker can also be usedin conjunction with the MB4 endfireor broadside bass array brackets andthe PANARAY system digital control-ler to create directional bass.

The PANARAY MB4 modular bassloudspeaker offers the followingfeatures:

The MB4 speaker can be used withthe Bose PANARAY system digitalcontroller to provide smooth accu-rate spectral response over the entireoperating range of the system.

The MB4 speaker can also be usedwith the Bose 1600 or 1800 amplifi-ers in combination with the MB4plug-in EQ card to provide activeequalization for the system.

Warranty Information

All versions of the Bose PANARAYMB4 modular bass loudspeakers arecovered by a 5-year, transferablelimited warranty.

Safety and RegulatoryCompliance

All versions of the PANARAY MB4modular bass loudspeakers complywith ANSI/EIA 636, RecommendedLoudspeaker Safety Practices andEMC Directive 89/336/EEC andArticle 10 (1) of the Directive incompliance with EN50081-1, EN50082-1, as signified by the CEmark.

The loudspeaker shall be a multipledriver, low-frequency system withmatched active equalization asfollows:

The transducer complement shallconsist of four low-frequency driversof 5.2" (13.3 cm) diameter, mountedsymmetrically in vertical pairs. Eachdriver shall have rated impedance of8Ω and shall be wired in series/parallel, resulting in compositenominal impedance of 8Ω.

The loudspeaker system sensitivityshall be 87dB-SPL in the 40Hz to300Hz frequency range with mea-surements referenced to 1W (2.85V)pink noise input at 1m. The disper-sion shall be omnidirectional at allfrequencies below 200Hz. The powerhandling capacity of the loudspeakershall be 200W continuous pink noise,band-limited from 40Hz to 300Hz.

The loudspeaker shall be a ventedenclosure, tuned at 45Hz. The inputconnectors of the PANARAY MB4speaker shall consist of two parallelSpeakon® NL4 receptacles.

The enclosure of the MB4 loud-speaker shall be composed ofhigh-density MultiFiber multi-layerwood particle panel with high-impactfoamed polypropylene end caps. Itsouter dimensions shall be 18.1"D x10.2"W x 26.7"H (45 cm x 25.9 cm x67.8 cm). Its weight shall be 45 lb (20kg).

Full-Range System with PANARAY® System Digital ControllerFull-Range System with Bose® Amplifers

The loudspeaker shall be thePANARAY MB4 modular bass loud-speaker.

The loudspeaker system shall beused with a separate system control-ler, to be connected to the input(s) ofthe system power amplifier(s), or withan MB4 EQ card, to be installed in aBose 1600 or 1800 amplifier.

The PANARAY system digital control-ler shall provide active electronicequalization and crossover functions.

Installation

The MB4 modular bass loudspeakercan be used with the Bose 1600 and1800 amplifiers. The MB4 plug-in EQcard must be used with theseamplifiers to provide active equaliza-tion for the system.

When used with the PANARAYsystem digital controller, the MB4speaker is also compatible withindustry standard amplifiers rated for4Ω to 8Ω loads.

The MB4 speaker is packaged oneper carton.

MB4 modular bass loudspeakers aredesigned to be wall mounted. Theycan also be assembled into bassarrays, by using the MB4 endfire orbroadside brackets in conjunctionwith the Bose PANARAY systemdigital controller.

No stands are required for portableuse.
