The company’s result for the period also showed that its operational profit grew from a loss of N130.8m in 2012, to N224m in 2013. The Chairman of the company, Mr. Larry Ettah, who read out the figures during the company’s annual general meeting in Lagos on Thursday, said the management of the company had put strategies in place to ensure continuous profitability in the years to come. He attributed the turnaround in the fortune of the business to the successful implementation of innovative and proactive policies. CBN raises N85bn at bond sale The Central Bank of Nigeria sold N85.17bn in three-year and 10-year bonds to mostly local pension funds and some offshore investors, the Debt Management Office said on Thursday. The DMO said it sold N30bn worth of three-year bonds at an 11.35 per cent yield, up from the 11.09 per cent the same tenor fetched at an auction last month, according to Reuters. A total of N50bn was sold in the 10-year paper at 12.24 per cent, down from 12.54 per cent at the previous auction. In addition, the DMO issued N5.17bn in 10-year bonds on a non-competitive basis to the central bank. The central bank had initially offered to sell N35bn each in the three-year and 10-year papers. U.S. Stocks Decline on Economic Data Amid Iraq Tension U.S. stocks retreated, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index falling a third day, after data showed a rise in jobless claims and a smaller-than-estimated gain in retail sales. Delta Air Lines Inc. fell the most in the benchmark index as the price of oil surged after violence in Iraq threatened to disrupt supplies. The S&P 500 fell 0.5 percent to 1,934.83 at 10:49 a.m. in New York. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 68.33 points, or 0.4 percent, to 16,775.55. Trading in S&P 500 stocks was 3 percent below the 30-day average at this time of day. Market Update

Portland Paints’ profit rises to N107.5m

Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Plc recorded an improved performance at the end

of the 2013 financial year, as its profit after tax increased to N107.5m, compared to a

loss of N222.7m in 2012. The company’s result for the period also showed that its

operational profit grew from a loss of N130.8m in 2012, to N224m in 2013. The

Chairman of the company, Mr. Larry Ettah, who read out the figures during the

company’s annual general meeting in Lagos on Thursday, said the management of the

company had put strategies in place to ensure continuous profitability in the years to

come. He attributed the turnaround in the fortune of the business to the successful

implementation of innovative and proactive policies.

CBN raises N85bn at bond sale

The Central Bank of Nigeria sold N85.17bn in three-year and 10-year bonds to mostly

local pension funds and some offshore investors, the Debt Management Office said on
