Prayer of Confession
O God, we have tried to cover up our sins, yet you know the
disorder we have caused in our lives. You have witnessed our
poor choices and our destructive habits. We have denied our
baptism and ignored the responsibilities of discipleship. The
good we do is often self-serving, while we avoid the full claims
of gospel partnership. Hear our cries of repentance and turn
our lives around, that we may know the wonder of your
forgiveness. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil:

Prayer of Dedication
How good you have been to us, gracious God! How meagerly we
have responded. You have restored our fortunes when we felt all
was lost. You have filled our mouths with laughter and our
tongues with shouts of joy. We give thanks, not only with a
portion of our income, but also through renewed commitment to
righteous living. By your grace, we share in the work Christ
came to accomplish among us. May peace abound in and
through us. Amen.

Christmas Program Rehearsals Rehearsals will take place during Sunday School on December 9th and December 16th, with one Saturday rehearsal on December 15th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Christmas Program Our Youth will be presenting an adaptation of the book Why the Chimes Rang by Raymond MacDonald Alden on Sunday, December 16th at 10:15 a.m. Please join us for refreshments after worship in the Adult Sunday School Room. All church members are invited to bring a snack to share. You may drop it off before worship in the Adult Sunday School Room.
Adopt-A-Family Gifts are due back today. If you forgot, please notify Barb. Thank you for helping to make this family’s Christmas a little more special.

Christmas Fund For over a Century, the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross has been a tangible expression of God’s love and light in the world. As one of the four Special Mission Offerings of the UCC, congregations have the opportunity to reach out in kindheartedness to those who have faithfully served the Church and are now facing unexpected financial needs. These gifts enable the United Church Board for Ministerial Assistance to provide, on behalf of the whole Church, Supplementation of Small Annuities, Retiree Health Premium Supplementation, Emergency Grants, and Christmas “Thank You” Gifts to those in need. This year’s Theme is The Light Is Surely Coming, and your support will help continue these ministries of light and love. The recipients of these gifts have faithfully served the church and now, in their time of need, we can be the church to them. We invite and encourage you to join thousands of UCC members and congregations who will support this year’s appeal and trust the light is surely coming. Ladies’ Aid Epiphany Party Date change: the Ladies’ Aid Epiphany Party and luncheon will be held on January 8, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Please bring a covered dish to share. We will be collecting monetary donations for Open Link. The monthly Ladies’ Aid business meeting will follow lunch, at 1:00PM Special Congregational Meeting A Special Congregational Meeting will be held today immediately following the worship service, to elect our church leadership and approve our budget for 2019. There will be copies of the budget in the narthex available before the meeting. Please be sure to attend this important meeting. Annual Report Submissions Annual reports from all Church committees are due in the office no later than January 8th, 2019. If possible, please e-mail your report to the church office. Any questions should be directed to Vice Moderator, Lawrence Croll. SLHC Lecture This Wednesday, December 12th at noon, come to the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center to hear a presentation by Allen Viehmeyer entitled The Koberger Bible. One of the greatest treasures in the Heritage Center collection is a copy of the Anton Koberger German Bible printed in 1483. This presentation will tell the story of the printer and the bible with focus on the multiple woodcuts found throughout the book. Christmas Eve Cantata and Candle Lighting Service Monday, December 24th we will gather for worship on Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We will begin at 7:15 p.m. with a collection of pre-service music, which will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by our cantata “A Celebration of Carols” by Joseph M. Martin, and our service will conclude with our candle lighting and singing of “Silent Night.”

Luminaries for Christmas Eve Every Sunday from now through December 16th, you may contribute $5.00 per line for a luminary to decorate the church driveway on Christmas Eve. This is one of the fundraisers for the Palm Schwenkfelder Church Relay for Life Team. Your contribution may be made “in honor of” or “in memory of” friends or loved ones. There will be a special insert in the Christmas Eve bulletin acknowledging your gifts. You can fill out the form on page 10 of this bulletin to place your order. Please then submit your order for luminaries at the table located in the narthex after worship services, or place your order and payment in the office lock-box before the deadline of next Sunday, December 16th. Organist Wanted Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm PA 18070 is seeking a Part-Time Organist/Accompanist for Sunday Services at 10:15 a.m., occasional holidays and special services, and adult choir rehearsals generally held Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. A completed job application (which can be found at www.palmschwenkfelderchurch.com ) and résumé can be mailed to the church at P.O. Box 66, Palm PA 18070, or email them to [email protected]. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them go to our website or email any questions they may have. This position is open starting February 1, 2019.
Combined January/February Newsletter Tomorrow, December 10th, is the deadline for submission of information for the January/February Palm Leaves. Please submit any articles, announcements, or postings you would like to appear in the newsletter either via email at [email protected] , or you may leave them in the lockbox located on the door of the church office.

A fully accessible restroom is located in the hallway, across from the office. A baby changing table is there, also.
There are greeting cards on the podium as you enter the sanctuary. Anyone is invited to sign – you don’t need to be a member of the congregation to add your name to the well wishes.
