Transition Nursing Program Acceptance: Transition Program Tracks

Transition Waitlist and Selection Process

Based on a transition student’s ACE I Exam Scores, they can either transition into Semester One or Semester Two of the Nursing Program in either the Evening/Weekend, Full-time Lake Worth, Accelerated, or Belle Glade Tracks.

• Students who receive a score of a 75% or higher on the ACE I exam are eligible to transition in either semester one or semester two of the nursing program.

• Students who transition to semester two of the RN program are required to take NSO0170 (Intro to Professional Nursing) and NUR1141 (Pharmacology) in the semester immediately PRIOR to their entry to the RN program.

• Semester two transition students MUST have worked as an LPN or Paramedic in the state of Florida for at least 6 (six) months within the past 5 (five) years prior to entry to the RN program. Students will need to provide proof of employment to the Nursing Program Specialist in AH 110 on the Lake Worth campus prior to program entry.

• Students who receive a score between 50% and 75% on the ACE I exam are eligible to transition to semester one only.

• Students with a score below 50% will not be eligible to transition to the RN program. Students would be required to either retake the ACE I exam or apply as a generic student to the RN program.

The Transition Accelerated RN Track begins in semester two of the RN program, and is available to transition students who qualify for semester two entry only. There is no semester one entry to the Accelerated Track.

Once a student selects their desired semester start and program track, they will be placed on that track’s waitlist for entry.

Additional Information on Waitlist Process

Students are placed on their

desired Transition Track waitlist

on a ‘first come, first served”

basis.

Waitlists vary in length between

the different tracks, however,

we estimate that our transition

students selected varies based on

overall nursing enrollment numbers

for the entry term.

Students will be notified by their

Palm Beach State student e-

mail account if they are

selected as a Transition student

for the program term. If a

student declines entry, they will

be required to re-apply during

the next entry cycle for

reconsideration

Readmissions: Students who

have been academically

dismissed from the RN program

as a Transition student will be

required to apply as a generic

student if they are interested in

returning to the RN program.

Transition Nursing Program Acceptance:

Licensure Post-Graduation

Students who complete the Nursing program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam in order to receive their RN license in the State of Florida.

Students are typically given NCLEX-RN exam date within 60 days from the date the grades post in their final Nursing courses.

Students who have prior legal issues on their background screenings are usually required to submit additional documentation to the Florida Board of Nursing, and will require more time to process exam dates.

The NCLEX-RN exam and dates are administered to students directly from the Florida Board of Nursing.
