    A Christmas Carol

    1. This is the earliest indicator that Scrooge has strayed from the Christian path,he is not

    putting into practice one of the central teachings of Christianity:

    Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself.

    absent in Scrooge+s life. Scrooge lac!s $armth in his compassion and consideration

    to$ards his fello$ man and as light symbolises hope, Scrooge leads a life $here he

    seems to have little hope for his o$n future.

    Christmas Day or the Christmas Seasonbut a rejection of Christianity as Christmas

    Day celebrates the arrival of /esus Christ into the $orld to save us. 0t also acts as ametaphor for his rejection of life as li!e his partner "arley Scrooge is also dead in

    terms of a Christmas Spirit and a community spirit.

    2. Scrooge is a miser $ho is miserable. -e acts as a perfect negative role model as his

    accumulation of $ealth has resulted in a bar!ing gnarling image of -umbug. 3ealth

    accumulation has not brought him happiness and this is a !ey religious parable and moral

    behind this fairytale for children.

    4. Scrooge vie$s any form of human contact or human interaction as an un$anted

    interruption from his mission to accumulate $ealth.

    5. 6red Scrooge+s nephe$ may be poor but he is generous of spirit. -e is kind, giving and

    considerate of others all of the values Scrooge lac!s and all of the values promoted by

    Christians especially at Christmas.17. Scrooge+s extreme views conflict$ith those of most Christians.

    to find these human qualities absent.

    1. The church and the government seemed to be adopting the same position to$ards the
