Let’s

face it, life without

Pokemon would be

GHASTLY! Take no

CHANCEYs and get all

over these fab

new releases

today!

A massive part of our childhood

was dedicated to these little critters;

the trading cards caused temporary

insanity in kids and were the

newsagent’s dream, we pretty

much all had the wallchart and had

SMTV’s Pokérap nailed down to a t.

And, if we’re going to be honest

with ourselves here, the dream

of Pokémon never really left. Move

over Mr Tiddles, who wants a cat when

you could have a pet Pikachu following

you around and zapping your

enemies?!

This is why the release of Pokémon

HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver

looks set to be

the best news

we’ve heard

since all those

extensions we

got on our coursework

during the snow!

Crammed with exciting

new features both

games allow hands-on

training with the use of

the DS stylus and touchscreen and come with a

Pokéwalker pedometer (as shown above)

allowing you to transfer your fave Pokémon to

follow your steps in real life!

Every step you take

contributes to your

Pokémon’s evolution and the

more points you collect the

more mini games you can

unlock, - clever huh? Can

you sense the

procrastination potential as

much as we can?! Totally

revamped and enhanced by

amazing new graphics, the

new games even allow

multi-player mode where you

is BACK!

news

“Diglett used DIG.

And in general, is

just mint”Pokémon

It’s the news dreams are made of...

embark on your

Pokémissions. Another super

cool extra to the new games

is a little feature called VS

recorder where you can

record your Pokébattles and

replay them later! That epic

win against Gyrados will

never grow old!

The games mix in a selection of the old skool

Pokémon with others from the various versions

released over the years, with new trainers, new

missions and new areas to explore. Keeping up to

date with the times, you also use Pokégear in the

game which acts like a smartphone and allows you

to collect information about Pokémon but also the

phone-numbers of the trainers you battle who, if you

beat them, could call at anytime to demand a

rematch!

(“Erm... wrong number, sorry!”)

The game can provide hundreds of hours of play

(a.k.a. procrastination central) in a lovely blend of

the best bits of Pokémon, what’s not to love?! Critics

have complained that there isn’t really much of an

evolution in the storyline from HeartGold and SoulSilver’s predecessors, but in a

story just so darn good does there

need to be?! Put your Heart and

Soul into these amazing new

games, both released 26/03/2010 and available at Game

for the DS and DS Lite

at a cheeky reduced

price of £32.99! Don’t

MUK about!

It’s not just us geeking outover this news, you guys weremore than eager to share yournostalgia...

Matt Barks, a student at the

University of Glamorgan:

“My favourite pokémon is Bulbasaur

- the first one i ever had. It shared

extreme risks with me as we tried

and failed in trying to pass Mount

Moon hidden in my tray in Year

Seven!”

Charlene Walton, a graduate

from the University of

Chester:

“My favourite pokémon were

Rapidash and Ninetails, - bit

lame but they were my

favourite animals at the

time... I was only 11!”

Jack Atkins, a student at

Liverpool Hope University, had a

few choice words to say about

Magikarp:

“Ah Magikarp, the prepubescant

ball of bridled rage, He does f**k

all but sulk, hits puberty/evolves,

turns into Gyrados and kills

EVERYONE!”
