Patient Story - Marlene BarnesI was on my way to Dr. Woodbury’s office for a follow up orthopedic appointment. It was a cold snowy day and the streets and sidewalks were snow packed. I was cautiously creeping over the parking lot towards the lower level hospital doors; there was a young man operating a snow sweeper machine cleaning off the handicapped parking lot. Imagine my surprise when I heard a voice behind me saying, “Madam may I lend you an arm to help you to the door?” Hallmark Card Company has a slogan: “We care enough to send the very best.” This FMCH employee, Chris Hutson, truly, was my Angel that snowy day! Not every young man would take the time to be so helpful. I am so glad that we have such a wonderful hospital so close for me to receive my health care. Thank you and blessings to your employee.”

Honoring FMCH Caregivers - Guardian Angel ProgramMaking a gift to the Foundation is a wonderful way to recognize the exceptional care you or a loved one received from the staff at FMCH. The recipient of your recognition will receive a personalized letter of congratulations naming you as their nominator along with a keepsake certificate and a custom designed Guardian Angel pin to wear proudly very day. The name of the FMCH team member will also be displayed on our Guardian Angel wall in the main lobby of FMCH.

A Note from Carrie Green, Executive Director:Thank you for taking the time to read the Fort Madison Community Hospital Foundation’s newsletter to learn more about the FMCH Foundation, which is a separate 501( c)(3) organization. Our main purpose is to raise funds for Fort Madison Community Hospital. We are grateful to each and every donor as they partner with us to make Fort Madison Community Hospital the best place for our patients to receive their care, our employees to work and our physicians to practice medicine.

Over the past eight years we have seen a dramatic increase in giving to the Fort Madison Community Hospital Foundation. We are thrilled to see the support for our community increase.

* Employee Campaign - 2014 marked the sixth annual employee campaign. The dedication to FMCH is apparent in the level of giving that our employees demonstrate through their monetary donations and through their passion to provide quality and compassionate care.

* Premier Golf Tournament - 2014 marked the fourth year for the FMCH Foundation Golf Tournament & Dinner at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course. We had a beautiful day, a full slate of players and a very successful event. Spots are filling up quickly for our fifth annual event to be held on June 19, 2015.

* Community Dinner - Our sixth annual community dinner was another sold out event. Everyone enjoyed an opportunity to network during the wine & cheese reception; partake in a wonderfully prepared dinner; and reflect on our awesome speaker, Aaron Thomas.
