How to Invite Students and Educators to Receive Access Compile the email addresses of the students and teachers that are eligible for the program in a Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers or Google Sheets spreadsheet. Emails should not have extra characters such as a space or comma and should not have any of these characters: # % | * ‘ + $ ~`. All email addresses should be separated by commas or listed one per line. Add your email addresses by copying them from your spreadsheet and pasting them into the field. Please allow time for all email addresses to load. Once complete, click “Invite.” As the email addresses are uploading, you may see some have errors that require correction. The successful invites can be seen in the “Invited” section at the bottom of the page. Once any errors have been resolved and all email addresses have been uploaded, you should see the screen below with zero errors and email addresses remaining in the queue. You’ve now sent all invites out. If you have any errors, before you start to correct them, wait until you’ve seen the “Status: Done” message. How to Invite Students and Educators to Receive Access

Compile the email addresses of the students and teachers that are eligible for the program in a Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers or Google Sheets spreadsheet. Emails should not have extra characters such as a space or comma and should not have any of these characters: # % | * ‘ + $ ~`. All email addresses should be separated by commas or listed one per line.

Add your email addresses by copying them from your spreadsheet and pasting them into the field. Please allow time for all email addresses to load. Once complete, click “Invite.”

As the email addresses are uploading, you may see some have errors that require correction. The successful invites can be seen in the “Invited” section at the bottom of the page.

You will receive a confirmation email each time you click “Invite.”

Once successfully invited, students and teachers will also receive a welcome email. If they don’t see it in their inboxes, be sure they check their spam folders. Recipients must click “Get Access” and create an account to get their free New York Times access.

This email is the only way for teachers and students to activate their free access. Please remind them of the importance of checking their email and following the instructions so they can use this program.

After clicking “Get Access” they will be prompted to create an account. They should use the same email address that the invitation was sent to.6

If you would like to invite more eligible students and teachers during this program, go to nytimes.com/account, log in and click on “Manage student access” under the “Student Access Management” section. Then refer to Step 1 to complete this process.
