We treat busy mother of one and Winner of Pacific fair’s online “fashion offender”

comPetition to a day of PamPering and transform her into a yummy mummy.

sick of her staple style of cargos, t-shirts and thongs, Karen roberts took action and nominated herself as a fashion offender in Pacific fair’s february online competition. her winning entry earned her a day of pampering at Pacific fair’s premier hair and beauty salons and a style makeover by resident stylist Kimberly gardner.

Karen was eager to be transformed. “i’ve spent 14 years wearing a uniform so i feel like i’ve lost my ability to be fashionable,” she explains “i’m still trying to adjust and find my style.”

When Kimberly first met Karen she saw how much potential she had. “like most mums with young children she’s busy and has little time to spend doing her hair, applying make-up and choosing outfits,” says Kimberly. “Karen’s hair was lack lustre and hadn’t been styled. she had minimal make up on, a quick slick of foundation and some mascara. Karen has beautiful eyes which would look great with a bit more emphasis from liner and eye-shadow. Karen also has a great body but she hides it under comfy pants and loose tops. i couldn’t wait to get started and show her how great she can look!”

Karen began her day at hair experts michael dib hair centre. stylist Josephine Keay used a Wella semi-permanent colour to bring out the cool mahogany tones in Karen’s hair

and restyled her hair into a concave shape. “leaving the front longer and graduating through the back gives the appearance of a fuller look,” explains Josephine.

the next step in Karen’s transformation was a visit to the makeup experts at napoleon Perdis. store manager, Peta osborne prepped Karen’s skin using napoleon Perdis auto Pilot Pre-foundation Primer. “our motto at napoleon is ‘not to prime is a crime’,” explains Peta. “We then highlighted Karen’s face and gave her soft seductive eyes.” Peta finished the look with lashings of mesmer-eyes mascara in black.

to complete the makeover, Kimberly chose a glamorous ensemble from charlie brown at myer. “Karen has a great body and i really wanted to enhance that and show her how good she looks,” says Kimberly. “the flowing dress allows Karen to show off her body but not overtly. it’s subtle sexiness and romanticism.”

following Karen’s makeover day, she oozes enthusiasm feeling confident and glamourous. “i feel great. i don’t feel like a daggy mum anymore. i feel like a yummy mummy! i’m gettng more enthusiastic about fashion. i’ve been shopping and buying more fashion magazines, i’m starting to find my style!”

A sooty: Bold, statement pieces you can incorporate into your current wardrobe.

A Greer: People often stick to black and grey during winter but it’s always good to pop some colour into your outfit. a really easy way is with a bright scarf.

A Greer: i love the hoodies at the moment and the v-neck dresses for girls.

A sooty: i really like the new collection, Paco chicano. it’s a collaboration between christian audiger and the fiorucci brothers.

A sooty: Probably the trucker hats. they’re a really easy way to update your look and make a statement.

A sooty: a pair of ed hardy sunglasses. the tiger design is really hot at the moment. You can’t go past one of the christian audiger hoodies and tees. the “love Kills slowly” design is our most popular.
