Earlier in July, the state departments of Human Services and Labor and Regulation selected Health Management As- sociates to carry out a study on the treatment of autism spectrum disorders for children in South Dakota. A public forum will be held at the Ramkota Amphithe- ater II, 3200 W. Maple St., Sioux Falls, at 5-6:30 p.m. Aug. 21. The public forums will offer a chance for families, advo- cacy groups, legislators, policy leaders and others affected by autism spectrum disorder to provide input. Interested individuals may also provide information via e-mail at [email protected]. State officials have previously stated that public input will be critical to the success of the study. The study, prescribed during the 2014 legislative ses- sion, will analyze the availability and certification of providers, accepted treatments and outcomes, and the costs and benefits of autism services for children as well as the impact of requiring insurance plans to cover the vari- ous associated services. A report will be issued to the Gov- ernor and Legislature by Nov. 15. Updates on the study will be posted to autism.sd.gov/. In the process of cutting down the tree for removal, alternative uses were considered. A local inmate who takes part in education based art classes said he would like the opportunity to carve an eagle depiction from the tree. The project displays a returning eagle delivering a fish to the nest, which is constructed of wood trimmed from a variety of other local trees and will need to be replaced every five to six years as it decays. The project was recently completed with additional habitat plants added to surround the tree. Online condolences may be sent at www.goglinfh.com. Helen May Hovorka was born on Sunday, May 27, 1928 to Rudolph and Emma Sejnoha on the family farm in the Vodnany area. She graduated Tyndall High School in 1948. On April 25, 1950, Helen was united in marriage to Alvin Hovorka at the Federated Church in Tyndall. Together they farmed north of Tyndall in the Vodnany area. In the early 90’s, they moved into Tyndall following Alvin’s re- tirement. Helen was a very considerate woman who loved caring for everyone and everything; be it feeding her chickens or geese, nur- turing her vegetable garden or household plants or even preparing and delivering meals for her children and grandchildren at any hour of the day. Throughout her life, she sought to help peo- ple and to never let some- one leave the house on an empty stomach. For a time, Helen also used her excep- tional baking skills to make her from-scratch pies for the bowling alley in Tyndall. When not cooking or visit- ing with family and friends, Helen enjoyed watching baseball; especially the Min- nesota Twins and her grand- children’s games. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxil- iary. In the fall of 2011, she be- came a resident at the Good Samaritan Society of Tyn- dall. Helen died on Wednes- day, August 13, 2014 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyn- dall having attained the age of 86 years, 2 months and 17 days. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Connie) Hov- orka of Tyndall and Charles “Chuck” Hovorka of Tyndall; grandchildren: Kristin (Josh) Vesely of Harrisburg, Stephanie (Cory) Nettinga of Harrisburg, Shane (Misti) Hovorka of Shakopee, MN, and Sara Hovorka of Sioux Falls; eight great-grandchil- dren; sisters, Rose Novak of Tyndall and Evelyn (Joe) Schuch of Sisseton; sister-in- law Enid Sejnoha of Yank- ton; and brother-in-law Roger Jones of Dakota Dunes. He married Ivy May Wood in Los Angeles, CA on Decem- ber 20, 1942. On November 28, 1943, their son, Terry was born November 28, 1943 in Italy. Albert was honorably discharged on October 17, 1945. When Albert returned from Italy, he started Gall Gas & Oil in Lesterville and expanded the business over the next 19 years. He sold the business December of 1964 and moved to Yankton where he sold Mutual Funds, was a car salesman for Wudel Chevrolet and was an insurance adjuster. Albert was a lifetime mem- ber of the VFW and enjoyed playing golf. Albert is survived by his wife, May of Yankton, SD; son, Terry Gall of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Patricia (Gall) Jones of Glenrock, WY; 3 grandchildren: Christopher David Jones of Clear Lake, MN, Stacie (Mike) Porter of Casper, WY and Jennifer (Rod) Robin- son of Dayton, WY and 9 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, family gather- ings, watching her children and grandchildren participate in sporting activities, watch- ing her soap operas and root- ing for the Minnesota Twins. Mass of Christian Burialwill be 10:30 a.m. Monday,August 18, 2014 at SacredHeart Catholic Church withRev. Mark Lichter officiating.Burial will be in the SacredHeart Cemetery, Yankton, SD.

Visitation will begin at5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17,

2014 at theOpsahl-Kos-tel FuneralHome andCrematory,with a rosaryat 7:00 p.m.and a Scrip-ture serviceat 7:30 p.m.

Visitations will resume onehour prior to the service atthe church.

Delores was born at Sa-cred Heart Hospital in Yank-ton, SD on April 5, 1924 toMichael and Anna (Wuebben)Goeden. She attended St.Boniface Catholic School inMenominee, Nebraska. Shewas baptized, received herFirst Communion and wasconfirmed at St. BonifaceCatholic Church in Menomi-nee. Delores married Joseph

O. Novak on May 5, 1948. To-gether they raised eight chil-dren; six boys and two girls.

Delores worked for over30 years at Gurney Seed &Nursery Company in Yankton.She enjoyed hunting, fishing,playing cards, family gather-ings, watching her childrenand grandchildren participatein sporting activities, watch-ing her soap operas and root-ing for the Minnesota Twins.

Delores is survived by onesister, Odelia Ellis; three sis-ters-in-law, two brothers-in-

law, her eight children:Richard Novak of Gilbert, AZ,Dennis (Sue) Novak of SiouxCity, IA, Joseph (Mavis)Novak of Harrisburg, SD, Eu-gene (Patricia) Novak ofGilbert, AZ, Daniel Novak ofYankton, SD, Mary (Tim) De-Nomme of Glendale, AZ, Phyl-lis (Delbert) Conn of SiouxFalls, SD, Gerald Novak ofYankton, SD; 24 grandchil-dren; 46 great grandchildrenand many nieces andnephews.

death by her parents, Michaeland Anna Goeden, husband,Joseph, three brothers,Lawrence, Joseph, and Ig-natius Goeden, sister, MildredRyan, and two grandsons,Seth and Joshua Novak.
