Intergovernmental Agreement on the Asian Highway Network

Signing took place in Nov.10, 2006 and will enter into force from June, 2009

First meeting of the SAARC ministers of transport held in New Delhi in August, 2007

Identified regional and sub-regional pilot projects for implementation

Projects concerned to Nepal are:i. Birgunj- Katihar-Singhabad- Rohanpur-

Chittagong with links to Jogbani, Biratnagar and Agartala -Rail Corridor

ii. Kathmandu-Birgunj-Kolkata/Haldia -Road corridor
