Overview of the civil society in Tunisia
Current status of Tunisian associations
The legislative framework: After Revolution; The Legislative Decree No. 88 dated
24 September 2011 on associations has replaced the Law of 7 November 1959 to introduce a less restrictive for the creation of associations and the development of associative activities.
The creation of associations obeys a simple declaration to the Secretary General of the Government.
The association has the right to live freer and more flexible, the drafting of statutes in obtaining funds and internal functioning.

associations established since January 2011 is 4068,
According to a survey of 600 associations created in 2011:
20% have paid staff (average 2 agents)

NGOs disparities between regions
Problems of Tunisian associations Financial and material resources are very limited,
The biggest challenges identified by the associations in order of importance are:
Lack of dialogue and collaboration with policy makers and administration officials
Lack of access to information The challenge to mobilize the public (negative attitude and /
or assisted citizen) The politicization and radicalization of public space lack of networking and coordination between association The young experience of the Tunisian associations

and Development
Who is TACID? TACID (Network of Association for civsme and Development) is a
network of Tunisian Association which now comprises 253 organizations spread throughout the Tunisian
The Network's vision: the associations are a potential dynamic actors, carrying qualitative change in development and guarantee of a democratic transition.
The Network's Mission: To develop a responsible civil society involved and aware.
The network started in 2011 by being a virtual network, it has been registered as official in 2012
