Itinerary for today • We fly with Kenya Airways (via Nairobi) from Johannesburg to Kilimanjaro Airport (Depart: 01:50 – arrive: 09:30). You will therefore touchdown in Nairobi and board another flight to your final destination.

• At Kilimanjaro you will board a private charter for your scenic flight of Mount Kilimanjaro before flying to Tarangire National Park.

• Afternoon game drive in the park with its giant baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia parkland. • Overnight at Tarangire River Camp with picnic lunch in the park, dinner and breakfast included

Information Tarangire National ParkTarangire is a long, thin park covering 1,360 sq. km, roughly running north south along the line of the Tarangire River. It is made up chiefly of low-lying, rolling hills on the Rift floor, its natural vegetation of acacia woodland and giant baobabs only altered by huge areas of swamp. The swamps of black cotton mud produce rich grasslands, while the watercourses are lined by huge trees; including sycamore fig, tamarind and sausage trees. Tarangire has some of the greatest concentrations of game in Tanzania, second only to the Ngorongoro Crater, but with far fewer tourists. There are several dry-country species that you will be unlikely to see in the bigger parks to the west, including eland, oryx, Grant’s gazelle and gerenuk.

Itinerary for today • After breakfast depart to Lake Manyara National Park followed by a game drive in the park including a picnic lunch. Continue to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will overnight near the Crater.

Information Lake Manyara National ParkThe park includes a variety of habitats, making it possible to sustain a wealth of wildlife in this relatively small area. The main habitats include the shallow soda lake itself (which occupies 70% of the National Park total area of 320 sq. km), the ground water forest, open grassland, acacia woodland and the rift wall. The famous tree-climbing lions are the greatest attraction in the park, so look out for Simba and family lazily lounging among the branches of the acacia trees. Breathtakingly beautiful Manyara is also home to herds of buffalo, elephants, leopards, baboons, impala, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and hippo. Lake Manyara National Park contains over 400 bird species found in most savannah and river habitats in East Africa

Itinerary for today • After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, descend 600m into the magnificent crater for a game drives. You will witness an unforgettable spectacle of African wildlife - a world teeming with animals. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the park supports a vast variety of animals, which also includes the black rhino.

Information Ngorongoro CraterThe Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers 8300 sq km, of which the renowned Ngorongoro Crater only makes up about 3% - equal to approximately 260 sq km. The conservation area also encompasses the volcanic area around the Ngorongoro Crater including the still active volcano of Oldoinyo Lengai and the famous Olduvai Gorge. Its centerpiece, the Ngorongoro Crater, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. It is often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world and the first sight of it is truly breathtaking. Standing on the edge of the crater, you have a postcard view of picture perfect clouds floating above a deep purple crater ring. And in the bowl below Africa has spread a patchwork blanket of greens and pinks dotted with animals. The crater floor houses a big population of varied wildlife, including the almost extinct black rhino. Animal densities are high, and game viewing is excellent. You will be able to get “up close and personal” with the animals. You will witness an unforgettable spectacle of African wildlife - a world teeming with animals. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the park supports a vast variety of animals, which also includes the black rhino. Another big draw to this picturesque park is it dense population of predators, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever elusive leopard. We will enjoy a picnic lunch down in the Crater. You will also drive through the haunting forest and feast your eyes on some of the most spectacularly green vegetation you will ever see. Later in the day, you will ascend to the crater rim followed by a drive to your lodge.

Watch thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle crossing the Serengeti and Mara plains is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Information Central Serengeti Grass plains framed by rocky hills and river courses, fringed with yellow barked acacia trees, define the region. The largest pride of resident lions and cheetahs are found in Central Serengeti and reside along the Seronera River year round. Kopjes (rock outcrops), home to many of the cats hence Central Serengeti is sometimes called Cat Central. The short grass of the central area is where you find the kopje outcrops, the small granite rock formations that loom out of the seas of grass to form a distinct habitat for several species. The kopje outcrops provide a perfect viewing point for the big cats that populate these predator-rich plains.

Passport & Visa’s:Most passport holders require a visa for Tanzania (SA passport holders DO NOT require a visa for Tanzania). This is obtainable from the Tanza-nian High Commission. The visa is valid for 3 months – please contact us to confirm visa fees. Visas can also be obtained on arrival (No photos or forms needed).

Insurance: We highly recommend that you take out adequate Travel Insurance for the duration of your holiday for peace of mind and to avoid the high costs related to medical emergencies!

Yellow fever and Malaria:A Yellow Fever inoculation IS compulsory for Tanzania. Tanzania is malaria risk area - speak to your doctor/travel clinic for advice
