My wish is that you have a great day with your family doing whatever it is you enjoy. Let your loved ones spoil you for a brief moment! Having just one day to show appreciation for the many days you have spent caring for their needs is not anywhere close to what you should be getting. SO HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! One of the best parts of working in a Senior Living Community is being surrounded by so many elderly role models. I have more “moms” and “grandmothers” here than I could ever wish for! May is also a great time to be in Louisville, Kentucky. So many festivities to be celebrated! Of course, the largest are the Kentucky Derby Festivities, leading up to the Kentucky Derby - the first leg of the Triple Crown of racing. These two minutes provide major excitement! We have plenty to do this entire month! Al you have to do is make plans to attend. I also want to mention that May 6th is the beginning of National Nurses Week. Our community is blessed with top-notch LPNs and RNs who care for our residents’ overall well- being with professionalism, compassion and skill. You’ll find the names of all of our “Angels of Mercy” listed in the newsletter. We’d also like to take the time to remind you that Belmont is a major supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and throughout every year we work toward a fundraising goal. The major events raising awareness to this disease started earlier in the year. Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. It’s the only cause of death in the top 10 in America that cannot be prevented, cured, or slowed. Every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops the disease. Belmont Village is trying to do our part in helping contribute to the cause of research to find a cure. We need your help and support. We will have fundraisers throughout the year and we’re asking for your participation to help raise funds for this worthy cause. Please review the calendar and mark those events that you may want to help with. Every month there will be something new and exciting going on or something that we will be selling. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association. Enjoy all that this wonderful month offers you! Ted Burfict, Executive Director
