Welcome to Your Coaching Brand – a self-discovery and business services definition journey! During our time together, you can expect to be learning, growing and evolving – as a person and as a business owner. And remember, it will also be a journey that involves being puzzled or confused at times, having huge breakthroughs and occasional setbacks. But you will have all of “us” – your mentors and fellow trainees – as your support system.

You will learn a lot of information and develop a lot of skills during both the live and virtual training. And there is no hotter niche around than the one you are about to enter... for reasons we will explain further in the coming chapters.

In just 4 weeks, we will help you get clear on WHAT you will offer as a coach, WHO you will offer it to, HOW you will deliver it, and how to PACKAGE and PRICE it so you can begin selling!

Your Unique Gifts

There is no one who has the same gifts as you, who has has the same experiences as you, and

who has the same purpose, personality and passions as you.

You are unique!

And your first task in definind your coaching brand is to delve deeply into that uniqueness and

mine its riches. Then, we’ll discover that just as you have unique gifts, you are uniquely suited to

serve a specific group of people – which we’ll define in the next module.

In the exercises below, you’ll have a chance to look at yourself as though through different lenses

of a hologram – and start to see the many assets you bring to the table to use in serving your

clients as a coach.

Below we’ll also explore some of your greatest successes and life lessons, and the challenges you

have overcome, and then bring it all together as your coaching message.

Life PurposeDefinition of Life Purpose

Life purpose can be simply defined as a calling, a mission, or an overall theme for your life which transcends your daily activities. It is the quality you have been born to develop, the type of service you are here to render, the segment of the planet you have come to enhance or improve or heal. It is much broader than one job or career or business; it pervades your entire life.

Qualities of Life Purpose

Fulfilling one’s life purpose is fun, joyful, and playful. When we are carrying out our life purpose, we find that the time goes by unnoticed. Hours pass by in pure bliss, complete happiness. As a central theme for our life, our life purpose also helps us decide whether to accept a particular job, whether to volunteer for a particular cause, and which kinds of relationships, professional and personal, will best contribute to fulfilling our purpose.



Why It Is Important

When one’s life purpose is discovered and expressed, it provides a reason for being, a sense of "coming home," a quality one brings to everyday life, and the motivation for one's activities. Not only is life incomplete without it; there is something missing in the world if each of us does not contribute the gifts we have.

Otherwise, you’re just doing things, filling out a checklist, but you don’t know why you are doing those things.

10 Clues to Your Life Purpose

Following are ten clues which will help you to discover your life purpose.

Clue No. 1: What do you love to do? That is, when you have spare time, how do you like to spend it? Your spare time activities are important because they show what you enjoy doing when no one else is making demands on you.



Clue No. 2: What parts of your present job or life activities do you thoroughly enjoy?

Clue No. 3: What do you naturally do well? You have some natural abilities. These are the things you just naturally do well. They have always come easily to you.



Clue No. 4: What are your ten greatest successes to date (in your eyes)? For this clue, put aside what others in your life may view as your successes. What things do you view as your greatest successes?

Clue No. 5: Is there a cause about which you feel passionate? Many times, the essence of our life purpose is revealed through a cause that attracts our commitment at a deep level.

Clue No. 6: What are the ten most important lessons you have learned in your life? It is said that we teach that which we most need to learn. What do you feel are the most valuable or important things you have learned through your life experiences so far?

Clue No. 7: Are there some issues or perceived problems that have occurred over and over again? This clue is related to the previous one, in that out of one of these repeated issues may come your greatest lessons. But some of them are probably still occurring.

Clue No. 8: What do you daydream about doing? This is important because your daydreams have their basis in your subconscious mind.



Clue No. 9: Imagine you are writing your epitaph. What things do you want to be remembered for at the end of your life? What things will your life be incomplete without?

Clue No. 10: What would you do if you knew you could not fail?



So now we know that life purpose is an overall theme or mission of our life that is unique to us. It is fun, joyful, absorbing, and fulfilling, and it meets a deep inner need within us. Taking the answers to the 10 clues, the next step is to notice any themes in the answers, e.g., do many of them relate to being with people in a particular way, or to solving problems or working with your hands? Those themes can then be distilled down into an ‘essence,’ the core of your purpose that is relatively unchanging, and the ‘expression,’ or the ways in which that purpose is being expressed (or could be!) in your life now. Here’s an example: ‘My life purpose is to promote harmony and balance through working as a mediator, parenting my children to live nonviolently, and volunteering in my community association.’ What is your life purpose? Do you have a clearer idea now?

Once you respond to these questions, review the responses for themes and work toward developing a life purpose statement that is meaningful and has both an “essence” and an “expression” component.

The first part of your life purpose statement is called the essence – the core value or purpose or issue that is like a common thread running throughout your entire existence. It is relatively unchangeable throughout your life. It might be something like:

To help people communicate honestly and courageously To find my own path and help others find theirs To improve the quality of life for the next generation To help people have more fun at work

The second portion of your life purpose statement is the expression, which can change as you go through various life stages. It encompasses the specific activities, jobs, community involvements,



hobbies, relationships, and other choices you make at various points in your life that ideally will be in sync with and an expression of your life's purpose.

My Life Purpose is:

Your Life’s Work

Your life’s purpose governs your entire life – work and personal life. Your life’s work by contrast pertains only to your professional life, and in this case your business.

Remember, as Sanaya Roman states it in Creating Money:

“You are a special, unique person and you have a meaningful contribution to make to the world…There is a reason you are here; you have a role to play that no one else on the planet could fill. The special contribution you came to make is your life’s work. When you are doing that work, you are following your higher path, and your life will be filled with increasing joy, abundance, and well-being.”

One way to discover your life’s work is to use a formula with the 4 questions as follows:

2. What was my biggest pain or wound in childhood?

3. What are my talents and natural gifts?

4. Whom do I long to help, if I could pick just one group? (Be specific)



Now, use #1 and #3 to help #4 solve/overcome #2

Examples of completed life’s work statements are:

To help people communicate with each other as honestly and courageously as possible through my mediation business including facilitating conflict resolution sessions, writing books, speaking and writing a blog.

To find my own path and help other entrepreneurs find their path through working as a career entrepreneur.

It is often helpful to get the input of an entrepreneur in reviewing your responses and noticing what themes they produce. Sometimes, we are so close to our preferences that we “can't see the forest for the trees,” as the old saying goes.



Your Summary and Introduction/Elevator Pitch

Finally, let’s bring all of this work together and help you develop a short 30-second introduction and summary incorporating everything you’ve written above that you can use any time you introduce yourself to someone.

A great format is:

I help ________________ do/overcome ________________ so that they can _____________________.

You might want to start with a longer version including ALL of the aspects of this workbook, and narrow it down afterward.
