I studied chemistry and started working in the paper and packaging industry as a product developer. In 2004, I joined Mondi as an application engineer for the Consum-er Bags & Films business. Since then I have worked as a business development manager and a sales director.

In 2013, I returned from my maternity leave and took over as managing director at our Consumer Goods Packaging plant in Korneuburg.

Mondi offers many different professions and career op-portunities in a multinational group while each entity re-tains its identity. What I like most is the encouragement to think out of the box and take on new challenges. I learn something new every day. There’s no limit to knowledge and experience.

My first contact with Mondi was just after my graduation from university, when Mondi was searching for an environmental engineer for sustainable development projects.

I was lucky to be appointed in the Mondi Tire mill in 2012.It was exciting and a great learning experience. Later I took over quality control and assurance together with environment, which enabled me to improve my managerial and communication skills while working with colleagues from different plants. Then I was offered the chance to work in the SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) department with responsibility for Technical Customer Service as well.

In all my positions, I found a dynamic and multicultural environment in which I worked with people from all around the world.

We’re honored to have won the German Packaging Award at the 2016 FachPack trade fair in the ‘Design & Finishing’ category for ArtPack’s natural appearance and paper-like feel that keeps these farm-made chips tasting fresh from the oven. ArtPack is a special matte lacquer applied to flexible film. Combined with a paper structure in the artwork, it creates the look and feel of real paper.

We produce a highly specialized range of elastic laminates for leading personal care brands across the globe. Our customers in the hygiene industry use our elastic laminates in diaper closure applications and adult incontinence products. Elastic films are

used as waistbands and for side panels. Our global product range also includes frontal tape landing zone laminates of customized nonwovens and fabrics. In addition, our siliconized, multicolor printed films are used for sanitary napkin wrappers.

A growing population of seniors living longer lives means the focus on adult incontinence products has increased in recent years. Our hygiene industry customers have been developing softer and more flexible adult diapers. In support of this trend, we have developed a high-stretch laminate for the belt application. This material, which can be up to 650 mm wide, allows our customers to simply slit the material in-line and glue it to the chassis. No further lamination of different elastic and non-elastic materials is required.

This innovation also has clear benefits for the end users. Due to excellent stretching properties and retraction forces, the diapers fit better and leakage is reduced. Senior care staff also report that the changing time has been reduced significantly.

SPLASHBAG was developed in cooperation with customer LafargeHolcim. This pasted valve bag provides optimal protection and extended shelf life of the filling goods in wet conditions. SPLASHBAG’s filling speed can match that of standard paper bags.

HYBRIDPRO—a collaborative development with customer Knauf Belgium—is a water-repellent pasted valve bag for high-speed filling. It has an outer ply made of high-density polyethylene film to protect sensitive powdery goods from rain.

The housing market in Europe is becoming more and more demanding. Highly insulated housing also requires better and safer protection from outside influences. We aim to enhance the comfort of living by focusing on smart products and innovative solutions for the building industry.

For our Insulaid® facer business, we addressed these new challenges by developing the FexShield® concept with which we supply fully extruded solutions. Consequently, each layer of the laminate is safely encapsulated in engineered polymers, making the facers more robust and contributing to a more efficient insulation. Composting organic kitchen waste is good for the environment, but it can be a messy chore. With Advantage MF EcoComp we developed a specialty kraft paper just for this purpose. Because the paper itself is certified fully biodegradable and compostable, the whole waste bag can be thrown in the composting bin. The challenge: To create a paper sack that is HDPE-film-free, 100% recyclable, and biodegradable in order to conserve natural resources and reduce waste.

The solution: We worked together with a customer to develop Enviro Barrier™, combining our Advantage Speed sack kraft paper with a special inner coating from Pope Packaging. Our Bag Application Center in Frantschach, Austria, played a central role in its development.

We are proud to be part of Enviro Barrier™, which won a WorldStar award and three goldmedals from the Australian Packaging Design Awards.

NEUJET® Treated High-Speed Inkjet Paper for the Most Demanding Print Jobs

The challenge: To find a paper that can be printed with the latest high-speed inkjet technology and at the same time accept an overvarnish to protect the printed area or add more features. The solution: NEUJET® papers are our high-end solution for high-speed inkjet printing. NEUJET® silk premium, in particular, can be used on offset presses and on high-speed inkjet presses, giving the printers the option of a hybrid printing job in which both technologies can be used to their strengths. Due to its silky and highly calendered surface, scratch-off inks can also be directly applied over the high-speed-inkjet-printed area.

NEUJET® silk premium’s large color gamut lets Lijnco seam-lessly print one job on offset and on our high-speed inkjet press. Together with Mondi, we also worked on a solution to print scratch tickets in excellent quality and at lower cost com-pared to other alternatives.”
