He had already killed two students when he entered the room of the sleeping girl. Mons. William Kerr was called by police to Florida State University, where the near catatonic girl would only speak to a priest. The girl told him that she had promised her grandmother to pray the rosary every night for protection, even if she fell asleep. She awoke to find Bundy standing over her. She was still clutching her rosary as she had indeed fallen asleep while praying, when Bundy suddenly turned and fled. Ironically when Ted Bundy was on death row, he asked for Mons. Kerr to serve as spiritual counsellor. The priest took the opportunity to ask him why he had not killed the girl. Bundy said that he fully intended to murder her but was prevented by a mysterious power. Bundy eventually confessed to over thirty murders. CHURCH CLEANING

TEAM D - Mrs Aitchison

You will remember, a while back when the refugee crisis hit the headlines and

was current for some weeks, I preached about it and the consensus was that we

ought to be able to do something as a parish to help the situation. Pope Francis

also urged parish communities (who are able) to adopt a family. Well we have

been gently pursuing the issue and it seems there are now refined processes in

place through which we can take up this challenge. To that end, we need to be putting together a small but dedicated team whose

task it will be to complete paperwork, source members of the congregation

with particular skill sets i.e. education, health care, middle east cuisine,

translation etc. and to meet with Home Office officials who will visit the

parish when these are in place to advise and ‘hold our hand’ through the rest

of the process. If you feel you have something to offer in response to this initiative would you

email the parish office, so that we can keep you informed and invite you

personally to any gathering to move this forward.

Thank you and God bless.

*********************** THE POWER OF THE ROSARY

In 1978 the rosary saved a college girl from the serial killer Ted Bundy. He had

already killed two students when he entered the room of the sleeping girl. Mons.

William Kerr was called by police to Florida State University, where the near catatonic

girl would only speak to a priest. The girl told him that she had promised her

grandmother to pray the rosary every night for protection, even if she fell asleep. She awoke to find Bundy standing over her. She was still clutching her rosary as she

had indeed fallen asleep while praying, when Bundy suddenly turned and fled. Ironically when Ted Bundy was on death row, he asked for Mons. Kerr to serve as

spiritual counsellor. The priest took the opportunity to ask him why he had not killed

the girl. Bundy said that he fully intended to murder her but was prevented by a

mysterious power. Bundy eventually confessed to over thirty murders.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY SUPPORT GROUP

Today Sunday 21st May is World Day for Cultural Diversity for

Dialogue and Development declared by the United Nations in

December 2002 and administered by UNESCO that states among

others that, 'Cultural Diversity is our shared heritage and the greatest

opportunity before humanity........'. We are therefore called upon to

do what little we can to promote understanding of each other.

Visit www.unesco.org/new/en/cultural-diversity-day and

www.un.org/en/events/culturaldiversityday for more information Our Celebratory Mass is on Sunday June 18 at 12pm. We will follow

the Mass Order for the day and insert elements of cultural diversity in

some sections. This will be followed by a Reception in the large hall

and we invite everyone to give whatever support they can to make it

a success. We encourage you to wear your cultural/native attire, bring

along flags from your native country if possible to be presented

during the offertory, food, drink, help setting up, winding down

etc. We have put a box on the table at the back of the church for you

to pledge what you will do. Please complete the slips of paper

provided and put in the box.

Do call Sylvia on 07870 508790 for further clarification.

Have a blessed Cultural Diversity Day!
