As followers of Jesus, we do all of this out of care and concern not only for ourselves and our families, but also out of our care for everyone. The sacrifices we are making are acts of love for everyone in our community. In the pandemic context even celebrating Mass only through the internet or television, and therefore going without communion, is an act of love. God is with us in this trial. We see the action of God in the self-sacrifice of those whose work puts them at risk even as it serves all of us. We see God at work in the ways people are reaching out to help neighbors. We ask God for patience to continue following the guidance of the medical authorities, and we look forward to the day when we can gather together without fear of illness. Our Lady of Lourdes † Saint Anne

Sunday, April 19th, 2020

Dear Friends, As we enter another week of staying home, practicing social distancing and covering our faces in public, it is good to keep all of this in the perspective of our faith. We see God at work in the ways people are

reaching out to help neighbors. We ask God for patience to continue following the guidance of the medical authorities, and we look forward to the day when we can gather together without fear of illness. Easter is not “postponed” this year. The resurrection to new life is evident in the actions and care of many every day heroes in our midst. Friday morning, the Democrat and Chronical reported that some parishes have

been sued concerning sexual abuse regarding priests who once served at those parishes. I have not been notified of any lawsuits against Our Lady of Lourdes, St Anne, or St George Lithuanian Church. Grace and peace, Fr. Gary Tyman

We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return. We will be with our friends again. We will be with our families again. We will meet again. –Queen Elizabeth II

Notes about the Monthly offertory report: Shown on the left is a comparison between actual weekly collection income to our collections expected each month. This fiscal year’s budget has been significantly reduced of all non-vital costs to reflect the drastic downward trend of our collections over the past several years (“weeklies” account for over 70% of each parish’s income)

A favorable monthly variance indicates the “weeklies” donated during the month exceeded the amount expected of the month. Meanwhile, an unfavorable monthly variance indicates the total “weeklies” donated during the month do not meet budgeted expectations and our financial obligations may not be met.

Until further notice, all Masses are canceled. Our Lady of Lourdes is open briefly in the morning and St Anne is closed. If you are in a high risk group, it is recommended that you pray at home to limit exposure. Masses will resume in the foreseeable future and we will keep you posted when that will be. Please help your neighbors, check in with family and friends by calling them, and shop responsibly. If you are able to get extra, please consider donating it to local shelters and cupboards as the needy are in an even more vulnerable position right now. Thank you.
