**** FROM THE PASTOR ****
My Dear Brothers and Sisters, the story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus in today’s Gospel
summarizes what the Easter Season is about. As I mentioned last week these weeks of Easter are called the
Mystagological time in the Church year. The newly received members are enlightened by the Holy Spirit to
a deeper understanding of the Faith they were Baptized and Confirmed in. Likewise, it is a time for each of
us to deepen our understanding of the Faith.
The two disciples on the road to Emmaus had witnessed all that Jesus had gone through and yet they didn’t
understand what they saw and what had happened. When Jesus joins them in their journey he tells them: “Oh,
how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! . . . Then beginning with Moses
and all the prophets he interpreted to them all the prophets . . . what referred to him in all the scriptures.”
Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus let us open our hearts to the guidance of the Holy Spirit during this
Easter Season. Let us listen to the scriptures this week to deepen our faith, our knowledge and our love of
Jesus and the Church. We invite you to take part in the programs here in the parish that are coming up and
those we advertise in our neighboring parishes. Truly, this is a grace filled time of spiritual enlightenment for
all of us.
SULLIVAN CENTER UPGRADE
I wanted to thank all of you who participated in our two major Fundraisers this year our “Calendar Raffle”
and our “Casino Night”. As we announced we were going to use the money from these fundraisers for the
Sullivan Center upgrading.
As you know back in the fall it became obvious that the air conditioning in the Rackley Room and Religious
Education Office and Youth Room were failing. To replace them would have cost thousands of dollars
I am happy to announce that we are going to be using the money to provide Central Air-Conditioning for the
Rackley Room, the Youth Room, the Religious Education Office, Ms. Gagliostro’s Office and for Deacon
Bruce’s Office. Also, the units we will be putting in also can provide extra-heat in those rooms in the winter.
I believe that centralizing them will be better way for us to go in the long run.
Once more this is all possible because of your generosity in participating in our Parish Fundraisers. Thank you
again.
May God bless you,
Fr. Stephen Cinque
