ROTARY is an international organization which promotes understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise with high ethical standards.

Contributions to the Rotary Foundation make it possible for clubs to transform lives worldwide by funding projects which focus on: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.

Having Fun Doing Good

The Teacher Recognition Breakfast honors four outstanding teachers of the Healdsburg Unified School District.  The honorees are each awarded $500. as well as citations presented by city, county and state officials.

The Wonder League brings baseball to children with special needs.  It provides the opportunity to play with "buddies" and family members while parents can just sit back and enjoy seeing their children having lots of fun. Each year there are season highlights with involvement from the HHS baseball team as well asthe Healdsburg Prune Packers Baseball League.

Choices encourages children to graduate from high school.  Our Vocational Service Committee recruits 14 of our club members to act as Presenters of this worthy program. Choices has been presented annually and sends a powerful message to junior high students to exercise self-discipline in order to achieve their chosen goals. It provides encouragement for them to stay in school and to consider the many benefits that higher education offers. The Marce Becerra Speaker Series, Mentoring and Scholarships, the HES Library, the Boys and Girls Club, Operation Jazz Band, and a new Scholarship Program all benefit from the involvement of the Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise.

Youth Services is an important branch of Rotary. Through the Interact Club, h igh school students learn the value of community service and develop leadership skills needed to implement their ideas and programs. Club participants not only strengthen their capacity to serve their communities, but build new and fulfilling friendships.

The Costa Rica and Kenya Projects have expanded beyond bringing clean water to both the indigenous Cabacas tribe of Costa Rica and to the Kiurani School in Kenya. Along with donated scholarships, students now have been given the Little Sun, a solar powered light that enhances their ability to study in their homes without the dangerous and damaging effects of burning kerosene. Recipients glow with awe, appreciation, and pride.

The Annual Fourth of July Healdsburg & Kids' Parade in the Plaza is gaining in attendance and enthusiasm with over 200 children participating.  This event gives our community the traditional festivity that was lacking and the response has been tremendous.  Live music, Balloon Toss and the Pie Eating Contest bring smiles and tons of fun.

Duck Dash on the Fourth, our annual fundraiser, is a classic community effort.  Many businesses donate sponsorships, gifts, prizes and talent to this event. Don’t miss out on seeing rubber duckies dive down our expansive flume along the Plaza!

Our Focus: Our Children As we create new programs that benefit both the local and global communities a reoccurring theme continues to emerge. It is the commitment to expanding the possibilities for and the potential of our children.
