Honda is a Japanese multinational corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles and power equipment. It has been the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturer for over 50 years and also produces the largest number of internal combustion engines per year by volume. In the Philippines, it has a subsidiary, Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC), dedicated to the manufacture of Honda-transmission cases, gears, shafts and assembly.

Challenge When Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation’s old physical servers reached end-of-life, the company decided to introduce a new virtualized environment for improved agility, better performance and lower costs.

Solution After evaluating the leading vendors, it chose to partner with Fujitsu and replaced eleven physical servers with just two Fujitsu VMware servers supported by Fujitsu storage.

Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) is the leading media company in Indonesia. Founded in 1990, SCTV has achieved many accolades such as Asian Television Awards, Far Eastern Economic Review as Top 200 Leading Company in Asia Pacific, and Panasonic Awards. SCTV broadcasts in 240 cities and reaches over 175 million audiences nationwide. It is the first media company in Indonesia to fully adopt a digital platform to broadcast its content since 2008, the same year SCTV started its partnership with Fujitsu. In 2014, SCTV managed to achieve the top audience share in Indonesia.

Challenge Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) is one of the earliest media companies to focus on delivering digital content. SCTV started digitizing content several years ago and has converted more than a thousand hours of digital video playback since. Its continually growing library generates the need for high capacity and scalable storage. As every department needs to access content daily, it needed to minimize working hours in order to share the network.

Solution Fujitsu provided a high capacity storage solution for digital content management. Digital content is stored in Fujitsu storage to be broadcast through digital media channels.

Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School (Satit CU) in the ASEAN region participated in Fujitsu’s ‘Learning Project of Tomorrow’ that began in September 2014. In February 2015, Satit CU Secondary School initiated a full-scale operation of the Education Support System, which Fujitsu and Fujitsu Systems Business (Thailand) Co., LTD. jointly built. Its introduction has changed the students’ attitude toward learning and improved their levels of achievement. Additionally, Satit CU Primary School initiated the same operation of the Education Support System from April 2015.

Challenge Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School (Satit CU) wanted to introduce tablets to the classroom environment to encourage collaborative learning between teachers and students.

Solution Satit CU is participating in the Fujitsu ‘Learning Project of Tomorrow’ where tablets and education applications are utilized for effective learning. In the project, eight subjects are taught and one learning development activity is also performed.

OPTEX Co., Ltd. (OPTEX) sensing technology is world-class, and its business has grown around sensing equipment in the fields of automatic doors, security and measurement, among others. It boasts around 60 percent of the automatic door sensor market in Japan. It was the first, in 1980, to develop a far-infrared sensor for automatic doors, and its business has evolved against a background of creative technological capability. Unusually, OPTEX actively pursued overseas expansion right from the start. Currently about 66 percent (fiscal 2014 results) of total sales come from its overseas business.

Challenge OPTEX is building on the Internet of Sensing Solution (IoS) concept to develop its business utilizing sensor data via the internet. The aim is to establish a highly sustainable business model from which to expand its business.

Solution Using the FUJITSU Cloud Service IoT Platform, OPTEX built a common infrastructure that�processes�various�types�of�sensor�data�efficiently,�in�real-time.�Then,�as�the�first�step�in�its�data�exploitation�business,�it�developed�a�simple�water�quality�measurement system. This is a ground-breaking system that uses the cloud service to obtain analysis results in real-time.

In July 2011, it developed ‘Value Generation 2020’, its long-term management vision through 2020, and continues to challenge itself for growth to become a global player. Focusing on quality, safety and the environment, Omron supports manufacturing innovation globally with its unique sensing and control technologies. It also provides manufacturing solutions to its customers, solving diverse management problems at their production sites.

Challenge Omron wanted to improve production processes in the main factory of its Industry Automation Business in Kusatsu city. Error logs from each machine were fragmented�meaning�that�identifying�the�root�cause�of�a�problem�was�difficult�and�caused�inefficiencies.�

Solution Omron partnered with Microsoft and Fujitsu to carry out a Proof of Concept of the real-time�visualization�of�production�flows.�Fujitsu�developed�a�system�which�produces a ‘Timeline Data Visualization’ report designed to use Big Data to support people who work daily on the production line.

Challenge Leopalace21 is committed to deploying mega-solar power generation systems across its wide property portfolio. However, for many tenants, the�upfront�installation�cost�was�daunting�and�it�was�difficult�to�accurately�monitor performance.

Through its 34 members, the Hiroshima Prefectural Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry works to stimulate and promote economic growth throughout the region via a range of initiatives. These include business advice and support services, local stimulus programs at town and village level, assistance with business start-ups and restructuring, partnering on IT projects, and mutual aid schemes.

Chubu Centrair International Airport (Centrair) has made solid progress as the new gateway to the Chubu region in central Japan since opening in 2005. Recently, the airport has experienced increased competition from other airports in the region and across the world. To achieve true operating strength and overcome current challenges, Centrair will take steps to boost demand, expand route network and promote cost reductions. It will focus on its core priority of ensuring the safety of all passengers while enhancing the customer experience.

Challenge Centrair was focused on scalability and cost effectiveness, adopting a virtualized approach in 2011. Following a version upgrade, it was operating disparate virtualized systems and the risk of operational errors grew due to increasing complexity. A tape solution was used to backup virtualized systems, which required the weekly manual media transfer over a considerable distance.
