Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I appeal against my grades if I think I didn’t get the grades I deserve?

Please refer to the Office of the Dean of Students webpage for information on how to lodge a grade appeal.

www.deanofstudents.mq.edu.au/grades

What can I do if I get sick or have an emergency that affects my studies?

If you need extra time to do an assignment it is best to contact the lecturer directly (as early as possible) and ask for an extension, giving reasons why you need extra time and providing any documentation to support your case. If you have a serious illness or emergency that affects an exam or your studies, you can apply for special consideration, which may mean that you can sit the exam at a later date. To apply for special consideration you should first contact your local course coordinator.

We recommend that you email your lecturer and/or tutor about the problem to inform them as early as possible. Their contact details can be found in the unit outlines of each unit. Please note that you must attach documentary evidence to support your claims (eg. medical certificates).

In extremely serious cases you may need to apply to withdraw from your studies and defer for a semester. In this case you should always contact your local course coordinator and MQ Transnational at:

[email protected]
