HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF OSMC MINING OPERATION

CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

1. Mobilization of construction equipment and materials started at the end of first quarter of

2008

2. Construction of two (02) Underground tunnel and Facilities started second quarter of 2008.

3. Initial production of Chromite both Sandy/lumpy ores started last quarter of 2008, we

produced 38,821 kgs.

4. Year 2009 we were able to produce 213,964 kgs of Chromite both Sandy/lumpy ores.

5. Year 2010 to 2012 average year production was 173,685.33 kgs.

6. At the same year, first quarter of 2010 open pit mining for high iron limonite ore was

developed, with the initial production of 98,000 WMT. On the following year 2011, we

produced 176,620 WMT.

7. Operation of Chromite ore was suspended June 2016 due the overlapping of boundaries

between OSMC and AMPHIL.

8. Over all high iron ore production and sold to china was 1,857,349.75 WMT

9. Effective February 16, 2015, OSMC Top Management sent a letter of Temporary Cessation

to MGB-13, EMB-13 and other Stakeholder due to the low market price of high iron ore.

10. Due to the Temporary Cessation status, we are now utilizing Care and Maintenance Program

for the Envi. Department.

August 6-9, 2013 MMT Inspection 1. C

ompany identified portion of the block 5 and 6

with approximate of 27 hectare no longer viable

for mining saprolite as confirmed by grade

control officer. Likewise, portion of this area

was initially rehabilitated/reforested.

igh mortality rate of the planted areas at the top

ridge portion of Block 2, 4 and 6 was observed.

Planted trees also along access road going to

Bel-at creek showed lack of proper

maintenance.

ontinuous scraping of un-inventoried trees in all

disturbed areas.

dditional series of settling pond is constructed at

the left side if Causeway which perceived that

will be destroyed by wave actions during

“Amihan”.

5. S

tockpile was observed at the right side of the

Causeway area without establishing drainage

system. Construction silt sump is not sufficient

to accommodate the run off in the area.

tored at used oil storage facility: 8 pcs wet cell

batteries, 2 sacks assorted used oil & fuel filters

and 72 drums of used oil as of March 2015.

nstallation of Solid waste bins with label and

cover was observed by the MMT during the

actual monitoring. However in terms of disposal

of solid waste, particularly residual wastes, a

controlled dumping practiced with minimal

mixed solid wastes disposed therein was

likewise observed by the MMT near the Motor

Pool area.

ettling pond No. 4E at block 1 was observed

discharging as such effluent will gradually flows

towards the Bel-at creek and will goes out to the

sea coast. Thus the MMT conducted the water

sampling to verify water quality standard.

stockyard 1, hence no proper storage.

he company established oil and water separator

located within the motor pool area. Used

batteries and drums of used oil were likewise

observed within the motor pool, however no

proper storage facility was noted by the MMT.

August 3-5, 2015 MMT Inspection 1. A

well-managed trash bins and collection point

for solid wastes were observed within the Mine

Camp Site, Bel-at area, however, the company

do not strictly practice segregation of solid

wastes.

otal of 76.66 drums of used oil stored in drums

were observed at the Hazardous waste storage

facility located at the Mine Camp Site.

3. N

ewly established settling ponds arranged in

series at the Bel-at area do not have Discharge

Permit.

4. S

ettling pond 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E and the newly

established settling ponds in series were

observed discharging, which will flow directly

towards the Bel-at Creek and goes out the sea.

Hence, the MMT conducted water sampling on

both ponds to verify the standards.

5. I

t was also noted that the company not yet

conducted air sampling.
