    Main Objectives of Khirbet-Kanafar Service Center:

    - Provide an efficient Extension Service for the farmers of the region through the Extension Agents who will have their offices in the Center;

    - Coordinate with the agricultural institutions and firms in order to test the irrigation material for a better advice to the users ;

    - Collect climatic data in order to help the farmer knowing the irrigation calendar and the use of a preventive frost control system ;

    - Execute studies to calculate crop water use;- Test irrigation material and adopting a common strategy for water

    management;- Study the agricultural problems in the high humidity region;- Test new varieties before releasing them to the farmers;- Collaborate with the agricultural faculties and schools in order to involve the

    students particularly on irrigated crops and irrigation methods;

  • 2. Identify the needs of the project beneficiaries in the region. According to the on-field investigations, two types of surveys will be implemented:

    Survey 1

    Objective: Study the actual socio-agro-economic status of the farmers in relation to the river inundation and the potential benefit from River Rehabilitation works.

    Survey 2

    Objective: Evaluate the know-how of the farmers and the impact of the Service Center activities on the agricultural operation in the project areaTarget: Determined number of farmers in the project area for further follow-up
