Upcoming Orchid Cove Board Elections
At the Orchid Cove Annual
Membership Meeting scheduled
for February 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
at the Tara Preserve Community

fill all three positions on the Board of Directors. Board
members serve a 1-year term. By notice dated
12/29/16, election information was mailed to the
membership by Argus Property Management, along
with the form to complete if you want to be a
candidate. No experience is required. If you’re
interested in serving on the Board, please volunteer to
run! Completed forms must be returned by January 19
to Argus Property Management. And, be sure to return
an informational sheet on yourself by January 24. Call
John Yilmaz at Argus if you have any questions.

Electric Grills Prohibited
In the December Connection, it was noted that use of
Electric Grills is prohibited by the East Manatee Fire
Rescue District, per the Florida Fire Code and East
Manatee Fire Rescue Ordinances. The Board intends to
soon amend our Rules & Regulations to conform with
this prohibition.
RULES AND REGULATIONS REVIEW
As you may recall, the Rules
and Regulations (R&R) were
approved at the Feb. 24, 2016
Board meeting and went into
effect 30 days later. Specific
sections of the new R&R will be
reviewed in this and future
editions of the Connection.
This month, we’re highlighting the Landscaping section,
which reads as follows:
Landscaping
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE MAY PLANTS AND
MATERIAL PROVIDED BY THE DEVELOPER OR
LANDSCAPE COMPANY BE REMOVED OR
CHANGED WITHOUT BOARD APPROVAL.
The Landscape Committee is charged with maintaining
the beauty and uniformity of Orchid Cove’s landscaping
through optimal plant and materials selections,
maintenance, and replacement. Work on landscaping is
budgeted annually and is done only by the Association’s
landscape contractor (currently, Florida Lawnpros Inc.)
or by the Landscape Committee itself (sometimes with
volunteer help).
If you have any questions, contact Kim Loskota, Chair of
the Landscape Committee, at 612-327-1120 or

DID YOU KNOW?
TMA Bylaw Amendments
By letter dated 12/12/16, the
Tara Master Association mailed
notice of a special membership
meeting on Jan. 17 to vote on
two bylaw amendments that
will:
1. Reduce the number of TMA board members from
seven to five, and
2. Allow a replacement board member to complete
the term of the vacated board seat.
A proxy for voting on the amendments was attached
but contained an oversight in referencing the meeting.
So, the TMA emailed a revised proxy (copy attached)
to residents on 12/22/16. Please complete it (vote) and
return it to Angel Wilder at Resource Property
Management as soon as possible by:
Fax: (941) 746-7520, or
Email: [email protected], or
Mail: Resource Property Management
2025 Lakewood Ranch Blvd Ste 203
Bradenton FL 34211-4948
The proxy votes will be counted at the Special
Membership Meeting at 10:00 am on January 17 at the
Preserve Community Center.
For the upcoming
2017-18 Board Year,
the TMA Board will
need replacements for
at least 4 of its 7 Board
members: 3 whose
terms expire in 2017, and 1 who was appointed to the
Board to fill the vacancy of a resigned board member.
Another board member, whose term expires in March,
2018, may also be moving.
It has become increasingly difficult to find TMA owners
willing to run for the TMA Board (or serve on
committees). If the TMA Board of Directors does not
have enough Members to constitute its Board as
required by the community documents, the Board goes
into receivership, a very unpleasant and costly
occurrence we need to
avoid. Therefore, The TMA
is recommending a vote to
approve each amendment.
Welcome New Residents
This month, we welcome new owner and resident Annette Bellows. She is the
Financial Center Manager at 5th Third Bank, Cattleman Office. For the past 30 years, Annette has been in the banking industry in Manatee and Sarasota counties. She comes from a large Italian family (6 kids) and has a daughter who lives in Bradenton.
Annette originally came from Carteret, NJ but also spent 3 years in Minnesota. Her interests include reading, spending time with family, and cards. Welcome to Orchid Cove, Annette!
GARBAGE/RECYCLING COLLECTION
There will be no residential garbage or recycling
collection on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 20.
For this day and any other applicable holiday occurring
during regular collection days, collections will take place
one day later for the remaining days that week. Regular
collection days resume the following Monday.

I-75 upgrades between Fruitville Road and
University Parkway
I-75 widening from University Parkway to SR 64
(including reconstruction of the I-75/SR 70
interchange). A little more on this one:
FDOT will rebuild the SR 70 interchange from its
existing partial cloverleaf design to a modified
diamond interchange design with a single loop in the
northwest quadrant. Interchange improvements also
will include replacement of entrance and exit ramps
and will add emergency stopping sites on the exit
ramps. See the following layout.
An interim widening project will expand I-75 to an
eight-lane highway with three through lanes and an
auxiliary lane in each direction. Construction is
tentatively scheduled for FY2016/2017. The project
will rebuild I-75 bridges over SR 70 and widen I-75
bridges at Foley Creek and Braden River. FDOT also
will widen about 1.15 miles of SR 70 from east of
Tara Boulevard to west of 87th Street to
accommodate the interchange improvements. The
inclusion of noise walls has not yet been decided.
A future project will ultimately widen I-75 to ten
lanes plus auxiliary lanes. The interstate will include
two express lanes, three general use lanes and an
auxiliary lane in each direction between University
Parkway and SR 64.
LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE
The Landscape Committee (Kim Strub, Colleen Kleysen,
and Kim Loskota, chair) has finalized and will carry out
its 2016 Phase 3 shrub and tree planting
recommendations.
